DescriptionPosition Overview:Reporting to the Chief Program Officer, the Associate VP, Programs and Health Equity, will lead a team of dedicated professionals focused on delivering needed programs and services to people living with Alzheimer’s or another dementia and their families. This position will be charged with developing and implementing strategies to reach, engage, and provide culturally competent services the Latino, African American, Asian American & Asian, and LGBTQ communities, as well as the greater community of older adults living in Los Angeles County.This is a hybrid position requiring some in-person work in our offices or in the community in/around Los Angeles County. Occasional weekend and evening work may be required.About Us:Alzheimer’s Los Angeles has been in service for 40 years in the LA community. Our mission to improve the lives of families affected by Alzheimer’s and dementia by increasing awareness, delivering effective programs and services, providing compassionate support and advocating for quality care and a cure.ResponsibilitiesOversee the Clinical Services and Community Outreach and Education teamsIn collaboration with the Chief Program Officer, develop and implement strategies to reach high-risk/vulnerable communities and traditionally hard to reach communities through outreach and education.Foster a culture which attracts, retains, and motivates a diverse staff of high-quality professionals. Recruit, mentor, and motivate a strong team.Provide leadership to the clinical and community education departments, including clear management goals and professional development, and ensuring high productivity to meet grant deliverables and community needs; organize and lead staff meetings for the Programs team.Provide focus on health disparities for the organization by creating and implementing strategies that address the needs of diverse and underserved populations.Ensure outreach to individual communities (i.e.: Latino, African American, Asian American, LGBTQ, etc.) is culturally and linguistically competent and employs strategies to reach a large number of the target demographics.Work closely with the public policy team to influence and address health equity concerns through legislation.Manage implementation of community education grants, including budget oversight, staff responsibilities, and ensuring that all deliverables are met.Collaborate as part of the internal grants team to seek grants in support of the ongoing work of the organization.Oversee the development and evaluation of new curricula to ensure that it meets the needs of the community, including cultural and linguistic capabilities and the needs of older adults.Cultivate partnerships with community partners.Deliver community and caregiver education classes.RequirementsQualifications, Skills, and Experience RequiredMaster’s degree or equivalent work experience in social work, gerontology, psychology, communications, or another related relevant field.Minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible community education and/or clinical services positions.Minimum of 5 years of management experience, in a nonprofit environment, leading large and diverse teams.Minimum of 2 years of experience implementing, delivering, and monitoring grant deliverables, including budgets.All candidates with an appropriate combination of education and experience will be considered.Keen understanding of diverse communities, including cultural and linguistic needs.Strong curriculum development skills, preferably with an understanding of adult learning principles.A strong health equity background.Experience working with caregivers of people living with dementia or people living with Alzheimer’s or dementia preferred.Bilingual, Spanish-English preferred.Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Word and Excel.High level of integrity, diplomacy, and initiative.Ability to perform work in person throughout Los Angeles CountyAlzheimer’s Los Angeles (Alzheimer’s LA) offers a competitive salary + benefits.
