POSITION PURPOSE
The Assistant Director of the School of Social Work Masters in Social Work (MSW) program is responsible for the day-to-day management of the UW School of Social Work MSW program providing high-level administrative and strategic support to the faculty, staff, admissions office, and student support services that interact with the MSW program.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Work closely with MSW Program Director to identify emerging concerns and ensure that academic structures and policies are implemented in the MSW program.
Identify policies and procedures to assure implementation of various aspects of the degree program.
Coordinate and take lead for MSW program committee, including convening monthly committee meetings.
Coordinate and convene quarterly meetings with MSW faculty and course leads to oversee curricula and address student learning needs.
Conduct and manage ad hoc evaluation of core and specialized curricula.
Provide monthly reconciliation of MSW Operations Budget and submit reports to Program Director.
Supervise student employees to implement work determined in consultation with the Program Director.
Collate and develop action plans from information obtained from the MSW Program Director.
Shepherd curricular proposals through the approval process.
Monitor program compliance with CSWE’s Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards.
Develop and implement student-centered programming as needed.
Assist Admissions Director and faculty in efforts to recruit a diverse pool of applicants for the program.
Represent Program at campus-wide meetings as assigned by Program Director.
Provide face-to-face, phone, and online advising to MSW students on academic, pre-professional and other issues related to academic and personal success in the program.
Review and approve course waivers for MSW students seeking alternative coursework.
Manage MSW conference funding program.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Master’s Degree in Social Work, Public Administration, Higher Education or Related field.
Three years of work experience in project or program management, and/or event planning, higher education administration, advising or student support.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Exceptional administrative support skills and administrative tool fluency.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with individuals at all organizational levels.
Excellent organizational, oral, and written communication skills.
Demonstrated commitment to enacting the UW’s and School’s values regarding diversity, equity and inclusion.
Proven ability to handle confidential information with a high degree of discretion.
Able to work proactively, both independently and as an effective member of a team.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrated success in advising or supporting graduate students.
Skills in Microsoft Excel, web-based content management systems, and other software programs.
Familiarity with holistic admissions processes.
