We are seeking a dynamic Director for the C.L. Hoover Opera House who will lead our team and elevate our impact in the community. The Director oversees all operations of the C.L. Hoover Opera House and must be comfortable wearing many hats. The C.L. Hoover Opera House is a vibrant part of our community, dedicated to enriching the cultural landscape of Junction City, a town of approximately 22,000 located in northeast Kansas, close to the Fort Riley Army installation.
We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with an approximate annual budget of half a million dollars. We offer a wide range of performing arts, collaborative programming, and diversity in theater, music, and dance performances, workshops aimed at engaging and inspiring audiences of all ages, and a comprehensive youth education program. We are an invaluable venue and resource for civic and community activities.
Responsibilities include oversight of all matters concerning:
Program Management
Operational Oversight and Development
Personnel
Marketing and Community Engagement
Financial Management and Fund Raising
Hospitality
Performs Other Duties as assigned
Qualifications for the ideal candidate:
Three years of experience and/or a bachelor’s degree in performing arts administration or related field
Excellent oral and written communication, organizational leadership, and public speaking skills
Business acumen to manage the budget and meet financial and operational targets
Needs to be involved in the Junction City/Geary County community events
Must be flexible - able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, and occasionally holidays in addition to fixed scheduled hours (to be available for vendors, etc.)
Proficient in office technology
Must be willing to travel to conferences for professional development and performance showcases
Be willing to become an active member of related professional organizations (i.e., Kansas Historic Association of Theaters, League of Historic American Theaters, etc.)
Must be able to lift thirty pounds and do light physical activity (i.e., set up tables and chairs and moving equipment)
Must be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time
Be able to pass an employment background investigation (including DMV records, criminal charges/convictions, sexual abuse registry, consumer report for employment, academic transcripts, and references)
