District Inclusion Specialist

Purpose Statement The District Inclusion Specialist is responsible for championing the implementation of the district's Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) Framework. The specialist will work collaboratively with administrators, educators, students, families, and community stakeholders to create a school environment that fosters respect, understanding, and equal opportunities for all in USD 475. This position will be evaluated annually.

Essential Functions

Develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate the PBIS Framework that aligns with the strategic plan. Ensure fidelity to PBIS principles and practices throughout the school community. Design and deliver professional development that promotes inclusionary teaching practices through the PBIS framework. Build and maintain positive relationships with diverse community groups, organizations, and parents through community engagement. Collect and analyze data required by the state to identify areas for improvement, to inform the decision-making processes, and make adjustments to the PBIS framework. Advocate for equitable resource allocation and access to opportunities for all students. Work closely with school counselors and support staff to address the social-emotional needs of students. Participate in regional and national networks to stay informed about best practices in PBIS framework. Communicate regularly with all stakeholders to keep them informed about PBIS initiatives and progress. Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

SKILLS are required to perform multiple technical tasks, with a need to periodically upgrade to meet evolving job conditions. Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include operating standard office equipment, including using a variety of software applications; planning and managing projects; preparing and maintaining accurate records; classifying data and/or information; comparing results; conducting meetings; counseling and mentoring employees; and planning agendas and meetings.

KNOWLEDGE Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include relevant laws, regulations, and best inclusionary practices and PBIS. Review and interpret highly technical information, write technical materials, and/or speak persuasively to implement desired actions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions.

ABILITY to analyze data and use it to drive decision-making. Ability to schedule a significant number of activities, meetings, and/or events; routinely gather, collate, and/or classify data. Specific ability-based competencies are required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job. Include adapting to changing work priorities; communicating with diverse groups and individuals; meeting deadlines and schedules; setting priorities; working as part of a team; working with detailed information and data; accuracy and attention to detail; analyzing issues and determining appropriate course of action; displaying tact and courtesy; maintaining confidentiality; and organizing tasks.

Responsibility Responsibilities include a commitment to ongoing professional development in the fields of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Working independently under broad organizational guidelines to achieve unit objectives.

Work Environment The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 70% sitting, 25% walking, and 5% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.

Experience:

Knowledge and experience in PBIS implementation required.

Education:

Bachelor's or master's degree in education or a related field.

Equivalency:
