Purpose Statement
The job of Mail Carrier is done for the purpose/s of providing support to the warehousing operations with specific responsibilities for ensuring that all schools receive their mail, boxes, packages, furniture, etc. in a timely manner; monitoring postage meter and postal regulations; cleaning and performing routing safety checks on delivery vehicles; and supporting the operation of the central warehouse.
This job reports to Warehouse Supervisor.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
SKILLS are required to perform single tasks using existing skills. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include using materials handling equipment and adhering to safety practices.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math; read and follow instructions; and understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge-based competencies
required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include materials handling and storage; and safety practices and procedures.
ABILITY is required to schedule activities; gather and/or collate data; and use job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others; work with data utilizing specific, defined processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with similar types of data; and utilize a variety of job-related equipment. Some problem solving may be required to identify issues and select action plans. Problem solving with data may require independent interpretation; and problem solving with equipment is limited to moderate. Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include meeting deadlines and schedules.
Responsibility
Responsibilities include working under direct supervision using standardized procedures; providing information and/or advising others; operating within a defined budget. Utilization of some resources from other work units is often required to perform the job's functions. There is a continual opportunity to impact the organization's services.
Work Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, frequent climbing and balancing, frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 10% sitting, 45% walking, and 45% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and in a generally hazard free environment.
Experience: Job related experience is desired.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Purpose Statement
The job of Mail Carrier is done for the purpose/s of providing support to the warehousing operations with specific responsibilities for ensuring that all schools receive their mail, boxes, packages, furniture, etc. in a timely manner; monitoring postage meter and postal regulations; cleaning and performing routing safety checks on delivery vehicles; and supporting the operation of the central warehouse.
This job reports to Warehouse Supervisor.
Essential Functions
- Load delivery vehicles for ensuring that all items and supplies are properly secured.
- Maintain work areas for providing a safe and clean work environment.
- Maintain a variety of documents, files, and records (e.g. shipped items, certified mailings, international mailings, returned items, etc.) for providing accurate information to mailing parties and departments.
- Monitor postage meter and bulk mailing balances, and stamp inventory for ensuring sufficient funds and adequate supplies.
- Operate machinery and vehicles (e.g. fork lift, delivery vehicle, etc.) for ensuring safe and efficient delivery of mail while complying with District, state, and federal policies and laws.
- Prepare items for delivery (e.g. letters, packages, etc.) for ensuring items are packaged properly in accordance with shipping regulations.
- Process mail (e.g. bulk mail, special deliveries, special mailings, etc.) for ensuring proper postage is affixed, expenses are allocated to appropriate departments, and postal regulations are followed.
- Receive stock and non-stock items for ensuring specifications, quantity, and quality of orders are correct.
- Schedule preventive maintenance on mailroom equipment for ensuring availability of equipment in working order.
- Sort mail for distributing to appropriate parties.
- Transport materials to and from a variety of destinations (e.g. post office, other district units, etc.) for ensuring mail and deliveries arrive safely in the correct destinations.
Other Functions
- Performs other related duties, as assigned, for ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
