The Retail Sales Stock Associate receives directives from the Store Manager on maintaining the stores appearance, stocking, hanging pictures and furniture placement. The retail associate must be willing to assist the driver of the truck on pick up and drop off of deliveries on scheduled days. This position is responsible for assisting customers with items being donated or purchased in the store, also maintaining a neat/clean counter area and sales floor. Able to run POS cash register, pull, sort and price merchandise. Assist Store Manager in displaying the merchandise on sales floor while maintaining a safe environment for employees and customers.

Retail Sales Stock Associate Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in calling customers to schedule time of donation pickups or deliveries.
  • Assist in deliveries (accompanying the Retail Store truck driver for customer purchases as needed.
  • Secure assistance from volunteers, clients or community service individuals as needed.
  • Observe careful handling of all donated and purchased merchandise while loading/unloading/delivering. Ability to arrange loads to avoid “shifting
  • Provide assistance to customers, duties include but not limited to: run cash register, record purchase using documentation as instructed, pull and price merchandise, test appliances/electronics before placing on sales floor, assist with donation carry-ins or purchases as needed.
  • Conduct yourself in a professional manner and display willingness to partner with all team members, display flexibility in schedule changes and job duties or job tasks.
  • Interact in a polite and cooperative and helpful manner with vendors, general public, customers, clients, board members and agency staff.
  • Associate must follow agency policies and procedures, safety is number one.
  • Report immediately to supervisor or Senior Director of Retail & Operations of any situation, circumstance or condition that is hazardous or harmful to staff, clients, or general public.
  • Maintain a clear path of all doors of exit in the store for accessibility to all persons involved.

Retail Sales Stock Associate Education and Experience Requirements:

  • The Retail Sales Stock Associate must possess a High School Diploma or GED, have 2 years’ experience in retail sales/customer service. Ability to communicate effectively with management, staff and volunteers, customers and donors.
  • Must be able to operate POS/Cash Register and help supervise volunteers.

Retail Sales Stock Associate Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
  • Ability to walk, sit, stand reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.
  • Ability to kneel, bend, crouch, and lift and/or carry merchandise up to 50lbs alone or 100lbs with assistance.
  • Primary working conditions are typical for an indoor/office environment requiring standing for an extended period of time; frequent use of computers and any standard office equipment.
