The University System of Georgia (USG) is comprised of 26 higher education institutions as well as the University System Office (USO). Within the USO, our administrative operations are primarily housed in the Trinity Washington Building located in downtown Atlanta. Our Information Technology Services (ITS) division is located in Athens.

Department Information

The University System of Georgia (USG) is Georgia's public university system comprised of 26 institutions. The position resides within the University System Office (USO), which provides central staff support to the Chancellor and governing Board of Regents (BOR) of the USG.

Job Summary

The Director of Planning manages, validates, and analyzes USG system space data, and collaborates with USO and institution personnel to guide campus planning and capital plan development and prioritization at the 26 USG institutions.

The ideal candidate will be a dynamic and resourceful planner/analyst committed to optimizing the value and outcome of capital investment in a public higher education environment. Skills related to space data management and technology are emphasized because improvements to the existing data system will be a strategic priority during the next 3-5 years.

Responsibilities

Lead and administer system facilities data methodology, management, analysis, and reporting

Manage and execute system space utilization methodology, analysis, and reporting

Guide procurement/scoping efforts and provide advisory support for campus-led master planning projects and initiatives

Coordinate and support institution capital plan proposal development and submission, and the evaluation and development of system capital plans and budget recommendations

Lead/support strategic initiative to evaluate and implement campus space data technology and digital floor plans

Collaborate with other institution and USO professionals in facilities and related planning/assessment functions (budget and finance, academic affairs, IT, etc.)

Manage ad hoc and special projects, analyses and reports

Related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in planning or other appropriate discipline

Five (5) years of professional experience in areas relevant to position job duties, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree from an accredited university in planning or other appropriate discipline

Proficient in collection, validation, analysis, and visualization of complex multi-source data sets using data/analytics software (such as MS Excel, Tableau/Prep Builder)

Knowledge of AUTOCAD for creating, managing, and interpreting digital floor plans and related metadata

Experience in college/university campus space data management, and knowledge of the use and implementation of industry-standard technology platforms for space data management and analysis

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including stakeholder engagement and facilitation within complex group dynamics
