ASSISTANT DIRECTOR . WORK SCHEDULE: 100% FTE, Days POSITION HIGHLIGHTS: Oversees the operations of Environmental Services for both the Montlake and NW Campuses, Roosevelt and Stadium Clinics. Maintain overall cleanliness and provide an outstanding first impression of the facility as well as providing a safe environment for patient care. Assist the Director in strategic planning, budget planning and control, organizing and directing overall departmental operations which includes oversight of staffing and resources (supplies, equipment), monitoring overall operations to ensure departmental, organizational, and regulatory standards are met. PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop programs and create policies and procedures that support best practices and comply with all regulatory requirements including Department of Health (DOH), The Joint Commission (TJC), and Department of Ecology requirements. Oversee and develop specialized procedures and policies that address terminal cleaning, floor care, the use of chemicals, equipment and training of the Xenex ultra violet light technology. Develop employee engagement, development, training methods, tools, and programs that align with LEM/Studer Group/EH&S and leadership strategies to support the organization’s pillar goal and to Become the Employer of Choice. Provide oversight and guidance on the department’s recruitment activities and hiring process. Financially accountable for the department by operating within the approved budget, while also providing the UWMC with the maximum value spent. Provide professional leadership and direction for a 24/7 operation of 270+ staff; effectively lead and manage change in a demanding, unionized, and high-risk/high-acuity patient care environment. Direct staff activities to ensure all regulatory and organizational requirements are in compliance, including performance evaluations, disciplinary procedures, and terminations. Create communication practices between department staff and other hospital staff/units that support efficient workflow relationships. Direct workflow, including patient room cleaning which impacts rates of infection, patient length of stay, patient experience scores, and the efficiency of other physicians and caregivers as it impacts Room Turnover. Respond to situational developments that require workflow changes or that impact patient care (supply shortages, etc.). Direct the use of resources (supplies, equipment) to ensure the compliance with safety precautions and regulatory requirements; direction includes the proper usage of chemicals and equipment. Analyze the use of departmental resources, including labor, develop resource management controls and practices. Assist Director with development of operating and capital budgets, and make recommendations on capital requisition, track expenditures and maintain department's budgetary goals. Maintain appropriate documentation, perform regular inspections, cleaning audits and waste/biohazard manifest records as required by regulatory organizations. REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or equivalent experience related field AND at least 6-8 years of senior management experience in the housekeeping field. Supervisory experience to include performance management and team development experience. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may substitute for stated requirements.
