A leading civil consulting firm is seeking a
Senior Long Range Planner
to join their team in Seattle, WA. This role focuses on both current and long-term planning projects, with an emphasis on land use, environmental, and community development initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of comprehensive plans, policy proposals, and land use regulations, while demonstrating expertise in interpreting and enforcing relevant laws and regulations. Key Responsibilities: Manage long-range and current planning projects, ensuring alignment with comprehensive plans and regulatory requirements. Analyze land use, housing, environmental, and cultural resource issues. Draft zoning ordinance and comprehensive plan amendments. Lead development application reviews and ensure conformance with policies and regulations. Provide technical assistance and training on code interpretation and amendments. Monitor and adapt to changes in state, regional, and local regulations. Oversee planning staff, ensuring quality and accuracy in reports, policies, and municipal codes. Develop and maintain strong client relationships. Participate in public outreach efforts, presenting at meetings and hearings. Research and interpret jurisdictional policies and regulations. Prepare GIS maps, technical reports, and project narratives. Coordinate with sub-consultants for needed services. Assist with the preparation of RFP/RFQ responses. Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in planning, geography, political science, or a related field. 5+ years of long-range planning experience, especially for municipalities in Washington State. AICP Certification preferred. Proficient in GIS, Microsoft Suite, and planning-related software. Valid Washington driver's license required.
