A leading civil consulting firm is seeking a
Principal Land Use Planner
to join their dynamic team in Seattle, WA. This role involves managing land development and permitting projects, overseeing policy initiatives, and coordinating complex development applications. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of land use planning, code amendments, and permitting processes, with a proven ability to interpret and enforce regulations in compliance with federal, state, and local laws. Key Responsibilities: Manage land development, permitting, and policy projects. Prepare proposals and manage project budgets. Provide oversight and direction to planning staff. Develop and maintain client relationships, handling proposals and billings. Oversee and coordinate complex development applications, including public outreach efforts. Assist in hiring, mentoring, and career pathing for planning staff. Research and interpret jurisdictional codes and policies. Prepare technical reports, project narratives, and response letters. Attend pre-application, application, and pre-construction meetings. Oversee the preparation of RFPs/RFQs and GIS mapping. Coordinate with sub-consultants for design services. Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in planning, geography, civil engineering, or a related field. 7+ years of experience in land use planning, particularly in Washington State. Experience with urban spatial structure and city planning. Previous experience with and interest in leadership and mentorship. Valid Washington driver's license required.
