Lilypad is on the lookout for an Actuarial Analyst and a Senior Actuarial Analyst to join our dynamic Risk team. You’ll be diving into supporting and enhancing both the rate review and loss reserving processes, ensuring we hit our target profitability. As a pricing pro, you’ll derive and recommend changes to current pricing strategies and make ultimate loss ratio selections to keep us on track. You’ll also help manage and analyze data for better transparency and trend identification. Additionally, you’ll assist in creating predictive models to guide our business decisions. What You'll Be Doing:
- Data Dynamo: Retrieve, comprehend, and manipulate data for various projects.
- Quality Guru: Ensure data quality, validity, and completeness, and suggest improvements to reduce uncertainty.
- Actuarial Sidekick: Support actuaries with analysis within designated business segments.
- Tech Whiz: Provide technical assistance and information to other business segments to aid decision-making, financial planning, and strategy development.
- Research Rockstar: Assist in preparing actuarial research and complex reports; present findings to peers and others.
- Exhibit Expert: Analyze and create efficient methods for financial exhibits.
- Risk Detective: Identify potential issues/risks and research their estimated impact.
- Analytic Innovator: Propose alternative analytic approaches.
- Communication Ace: Clearly communicate technical actuarial work to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Independent Analyst: Conduct independent analysis, draw conclusions, and make recommendations for assigned projects.
- Documentation Pro: Maintain clear and concise documentation of methods and activities.
- Actuarial Extraordinaire: Perform other actuarial duties as assigned.
What You'll Need:
- Analyst I: 1-2 years of success in an actuarial role or internship at a personal lines insurance company.
- Analyst II: 2-4 years of success in an actuarial role at a personal lines insurance company.
- Data Savvy: Advanced knowledge of data sources, tools, statistical principles, methodologies, and research techniques.
- Excel Expert: Proficiency in Excel (VBA, macros, scripts, formulas, data visualization, etc.), Access, Python, and R.
- Analytical Mind: Ability to analyze data and review moderately complex analyses from others.
- Skill Set: Strong planning, analytical, decision-making, and communication skills.
- Business Insight: Solid understanding of business to improve outcomes.
- Clear Communicator: Ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
- Collaborator: Ability to develop partnerships and collaborate with other business and functional areas.
What's Great to Have:
- Insurance Experience: Experience working with state insurance departments and admitted markets insurance, especially in coastal states.
Education/Experience:
- Degree: Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in actuarial science, math/applied math, statistics/applied statistics, or economics.
- Actuarial Success: Demonstrated success in an actuarial examination or internship at an insurance company or similar institution is a plus.
