Job Description
Drivers are responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of materials to the customer base and the backhauling of materials to the facility. Drivers operate tractors with trailers on public streets and highways. Duties include opening and closing facility gates, reading and following shipping documents, maintaining accurate logs and following instructions from the Dispatcher. Drivers may or may not participate in the loading of materials but are responsible for securing the load using approved devices and methods.
Job Duties:
- Operate Company Owned delivery trucks in a safe and efficient manner
- Routinely required to load and transport heavy, long materials
- Required to operate forklift and assist in loading/unloading vehicles
- Assist customers, suppliers and fellow co-workers in a professional and courteous manner
- Lifting requirements 100 pounds and up
- Quick learner & able to adapt to change
- Willingness to be cross-trained in other areas of our company
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Clean driving record
Job Requirements:
- 2+ years experience being a delivery driver
- High school diploma or GED
- Forklift certification, preferred
Work Environment:
- Rare work performed in a manufacturing facility with exposure to airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, forklifts and noise.
- Constant driving on public streets and highways
Physical Demands:
- Occasional ability to lift and gather bags weighing up to 100 lbs.
- Occasional ability to climb stairs and ladders
- Constant work performed while driving a tractor
- Constant good manual dexterity, multi-limb coordination and stamina
- Constant specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
