Our client, a nationwide distributor of fresh seafood, has an immediate need for an experienced

Quality Control Manager , to join their winning team in Boston.The candidate will be responsible for managing all quality aspects of their production facility and ensuring that all seafood products are manufactured in compliance with specific company Food Safety and QA requirements. You will lead, manage, and work to improve the inspection and grading of Grade-A seafood products, perform and oversee microbial and moisture analysis, review and respond to written reports, and address daily Food Safety issues within the production facility related to product quality non-conformance while directing QC Associates and Production leadership to corrective action.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Maintain all Food Safety and Quality Assurance programs and certificationsManage, lead, and develop the Quality Control team to follow company QC and HACCP plansEnsure production facility adheres to regulatory, Food Safety, and company standardsPerform internal audits to ensure production plant is adhering to the Food Safety systemsEnsure Food Safety and Quality policies and procedures are maintained, understood, and followed by all employeesManage all internal documentation within the facilityVerify daily QC and QA recordsMaintain product specifications and ensure compliance within the facilityManage and develop company SOPs and HACCP plans, as requiredAssist QA leadership in the development and implementation of new procedures and policies to increase business effectiveness and efficiencies, as directedContribute to the development of new products and processes with a focus on food safety and quality control, as directedPerform customer return audits and assist with root cause analysis and corrective actionPlan, prepare, and participate in all audits including: organic, kosher, customer, FDA, internal, and 3rd partySustain and improve ratings on annual certificationsPerform other related duties as assignedKEY REQUIREMENTS:5+ years experience in leading Food Safety & QC Teams in food manufacturing3+ years experience as a decision maker responsible for interactions with customers, suppliers, regulators, and production leadershipBS in Chemistry, Biology, Food Safety, Food Science, or related requiredMS in Food Science or related desirableHAACP certification requiredSQF certification knowledge requiredSolid understanding of seafood or meat industry strongly preferredSolid understanding of government regulations and labeling requirements preferredProduction, manufacturing process flows, and lean manufacturing experience preferredExperience in large and small company settings; understanding of smaller company growth opportunities and expectationsExperience and demonstrated ability to effectively manage Food Safety and Quality systems across departments and multiple locationsStrong project management and organizational skills; able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects on timeExceptional interpersonal skills: able to navigate organizations to build relationships and garner supportAble to provide leadership and resolve employee problems, complaints, and grievancesAble to provide support and training to department managers to achieve goalsDrive an environment that promotes performance and a safe workplaceDrive an environment of teamwork and open communicationPlease apply today to be one of the first people considered for this position!
