The Chen Lab (https://kaifuchenlab.github.io) at the Boston Children's Hospital in Harvard Medical School is recruiting a bioinformatics postdoctoral researcher. Research Directions Analyze spatial single-cell RNA-seq, ChIP-seq / Cut&Tag, ATAC-seq, RNA modification profiles, Hi-C, or Nanopore direct RNA sequencing data to unravel spatial and temporal dimensions of biological processes. Investigate the regulatory mechanisms of gene expression, including intercellular communication, transcription factors, histone modifications, RNA modifications, and 3D chromatin folding to gain insights into development and diseases. Develop innovative computational tools, statistical methods, artificial intelligence techniques, machine learning algorithms, or network models. Collaborate with clinicians and biologists to enhance research productivity, foster innovation, and facilitate translational applications. The PI, Lab and Environment Dr. Kaifu Chen is an Associate Professor at the Harvard Medical School and endowed Director of the Computational Biology Program in the Cardiology Department of Boston Children's Hospital. He is also affiliated with the Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT and is an Associate Member of the Dana-Farber Harvard Cancer Center. Before moving to Harvard, Dr. Chen was a principal investigator at Weill Cornell Medical School and the Director of the Center for Bioinformatics and Computational Biology at Houston Methodist Center. His research is always supported by over 10 grants as well as an endowment fund. At the Chen Lab, we foster an environment that promotes research freedom, self-motivation, and collaboration. Lab members are often free to select or develop diverse research directions and projects tailored to the unique talent of each member. Our lab alumni moved to professor positions in institutes such as Beijing University and Harvard University as well as engineer positions in the IT industry such as Amazon. The lab publishes in general journals such as Nature and Science as well as specific journals such as Circulation and Genome Biology. The lab location further offers proximity to multiple prestigious biomedical institutes, including the Dana-Farber Cancer Center, Massachusetts General Hospital, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Salary Range The salary for this position ranges from $70,000 to $77,000, commensurate with experience.
