The American Pops Orchestra (APO) is seeking a dynamic and driven
Director of Development
to help us advance our mission of making orchestral music more accessible and inclusive to audiences of all backgrounds and ages. As an organization, we strive to create both popular and classical programming that fosters a deep connection between audiences and the orchestra—where music brings people together. We are a service-oriented organization, and our work is rooted in understanding our audiences and meeting them where they are.
As the Director of Development, you will be a key ambassador for APO, engaging with current supporters and cultivating new relationships to ensure the ongoing success of the organization. You will play a pivotal role in communicating APO's unique vision and impact, ensuring that our message resonates with potential donors, sponsors, and partners. This position offers an exciting opportunity to shape the future of fundraising in the arts by bringing innovative and creative approaches to securing support for our groundbreaking work.

Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy to support APO’s programs and growth
Cultivate and manage relationships with current and prospective donors, sponsors, and partners
Create and execute donor communication strategies that effectively convey APO’s mission, impact, and needs
Design and lead fundraising campaigns, including major gifts, annual giving, and special events
Engage with the Board of Directors and senior leadership to ensure alignment on fundraising goals and strategies
Track and report on fundraising progress, ensuring goals are met and objectives are achieved
Innovate and experiment with new fundraising methods to expand APO’s donor base and engagement
Qualifications:
Come from a development/fundraising position or have more than 5+ years in a previous arts fundraising position
Proven experience in fundraising and development, with a successful track record in the arts or a related field
Strong ability to articulate a compelling case for support and convey the unique mission and vision of APO
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders
Creative and innovative thinking, with a passion for making a positive impact in the arts
Highly motivated, self-driven, and goal-oriented with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
Experience with donor management systems and fundraising platforms is a plus
Successful experience with grant and foundation solicitation
Experience expanding donor base, with particular expertise in bringing in new donors to organizations
Salary Range:
$100,000-120,000+
