Duties:

Work as a member of a multi-discipline project team in the design and development of projects.

Collaborate with, and act as a resource for, Huitt-Zollars in a multi-discipline office, conducting meetings with clients, internal disciplines, and contractors.

Design and analyze structural systems for low-to high-rise buildings.

Coordinate and delegate tasks between multiple disciplines and attend regular meetings.

Effectively mentor young engineers and assist in their development.

Assist and work with senior staff to develop project budgets and proposed fees.

Review shop drawings, perform field inspections, and facilitate the construction administration process.

Demonstrate competency in all project phases.

Perform quality reviews of engineering plans for completeness and engineering accuracy.

Key Responsibilities:

Pursue winning new business or additional opportunities with existing clients and may be responsible for a stated portion of office sales goal. Assist and/or lead team in pursuit of new work (repeat work, SOQ, and Proposals). Develop and/or execute project Win strategy.

Function as Lead Principal-in-Charge for their designated Practice Area in geographic market.

Be a competent, knowledgeable service leader in the market(s) they service.

Understand and follow HZ QMS and Quality initiatives. Ensure quality control measures are being adhered to on projects and daily operations.

Prepare and follow comprehensive Project Framework Instructions and proper work planning for a project. Ensure proper staff is assigned and utilized on their projects.

Review project reports and performance metrics to track project progress and budget. Lead successful projects (profit, on-schedule, quality, satisfied client). Verify client satisfaction routinely and share feedback with the team.

Work with PM to strategize resolving issues that impact project performance. Review progress with PM at least monthly and ensure adherence to weekly rhythm.

Contribute to the overall profitability and financial performance on projects.

Oversee staff deliverables and production assigned to their projects to ensure client, legal, and company requirements are met.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering; a Master of Science Degree is welcomed but not required.

Must be a Licensed Engineer (P.E.) in the state of Colorado.

Minimum of 10 years of experience.

Experience in design of structural systems using materials such as wood framed, light gauge and structural steel, concrete, masonry, and deep foundations.

Sound verbal, written, and graphic communication skills.

Excellent ability to interact with clients and multi-discipline team members.

Organized and self-motivated.

Experience with Adapt software, RAM structural systems, RAM elements, RISA software, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Strong Revit skills.

Strong understanding of national codes and industry standards.

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.

The employee must be able to concentrate on details, work under deadline pressures, apply sound logic and judgment, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities.
