Open Until Filled Position Information: Serves as a member of the departmental leadership team, specifically managing and overseeing the functions associated with student learning and development. Provides vision and direction to the Assistant Directors of Residential Education and the overall live-in Residential Education team. Ensures professional staff development and experience is aligned with professional association competencies and the departmental mission and vision. Research, develop, and implement a Residential Curriculum that complements the UCR student experience. Experience applying student developmental theory to aspects of on-campus residential living; as to develop, implement, and assess residential learning outcomes and experiences. Serves in the top tier emergency response and responsibilities. The full salary range for the Associate Director of Residential Education position is $66,500 - $118,300 annually. However, the expected pay scale for this position is up to $92,500 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs. Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements. Requirements: Educational Requirements Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. (Required) Master's degree. (Preferred) Experience Requirements 6 - 10 years of related experience. (Required) Previous supervisory/managerial experience. (Preferred) Previous experience in supervising professional/career staff. (Preferred) Minimum Requirements Knowledge of advising and counseling techniques. Skills in project and program management, social perceptiveness to be aware of others' reactions and understanding why they react as they do. Knowledge of risk assessment principles along with the ability to evaluate risks and the likelihood of consequences. Thorough knowledge of Student Affairs/Student Life specialization. Strong skills in active listening, critical thinking, negotiation, reasoning, organizing, written and verbal communication; multitasking and intercultural competence. Strong leadership skills to motivate employees and influence attitudes and behaviors. Knowledge of social justice competencies and practices. An understanding of Residential Curriculum framework and implementation. Skills in monitoring/assessing people, processes or services, to make improvements. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs. Strong knowledge of University and departmental policies, processes, and procedures. Demonstrated understanding of student development theories and practices. Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in higher education, specifically Residential Life/Education. Demonstrated understanding of mentorship and development techniques; and professional competencies. Strong skills in research and assessment as it pertains to informed data-driven practices. Direct supervision of Assistant Directors of Residential Life Education and oversight of Resident Director and associated student staff. Ensures professional development outside the confines of direct reports roles and responsibilities. Manages and develops a collective vision and yearly outcomes for area of responsibility. Participates in the top tier on-call emergency response rotation. Serves as a departmental lead in major crisis/emergencies. Works with live-in staff to ensure employee satisfaction and development.

Solves the most complex and sensitive issues arising in Student Affairs/Life & Development specialization.

Manages the Residential Curriculum aspects (including training, implementation, and necessary modification).

Counsels and evaluates employee performance. Recommends changes to program policies, processes, and procedures.

Assures staff compliance with university policies, procedures, standards and state and federal regulations including FERPA, Title IX, ADA and others as appropriate. Assures alignment across areas in how policies, process, and procedures are executed.

Develops and maintains collaborative partnerships with staff, faculty, and departments:

Meets with key stakeholders on a quarterly basis and establish areas of success and improvement. Directs the opening and closing of residence halls and campus apartments with Housing Services and other campus partners.

Assists with the coordination of the student conduct process and follow-up of critical incidents:
