Job Summary
This position supports UCSF's IT community. They will propose solutions and lead initiatives that improve operational efficiency, sustainability, and reduce the risks and costs of supply chains. They will identify and manage issues of diverse scope and complexity and create solutions that are based on engagement with UCSF's internal customers, campus stakeholders, suppliers, counterparts at other UC campuses, and data analyses. They will identify product categories that merit strategic focus. In the spirit of continuous improvement, they will cultivate contacts within the Finance organization, across UCSF, and with suppliers and acquire experience and knowledge in service of the UCSF's IT community for critical equipment, supplies, and services. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. Department Description
Strategic Sourcing, a unit within UCSF Supply Chain Management, focuses on identifying and executing against strategic opportunities to save time, money and reduce supply risks for identified clients. By negotiating deals that take advantage of the combined buying power of UCSF and/or the UC enterprise and their affiliates, this high-performing team aggressively cuts costs for common goods and services while increasing quality, manages supplier relationships, and supports ad-hoc Supply Chain Projects to add value to our stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training 3+ years of relevant progressive experience Strong ability to independently gather, organize, and perform analytical or sourcing assignments Strong listening and communication skills, including the ability to present information in a clear and concise manner verbally and in writing Strong organizational, meeting facilitation, and decision-making skills Excellent professional ability to engage and communicate with stakeholders Produces reports that are well-reasoned and well-written Experience facilitating procurement contract and pricing negotiations
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training Experience supporting stakeholders in an academic IT setting Knowledge of public procurement policies and/or UC BUS 43 Knowledge of strategic sourcing policies, practices, and systems Ability to manipulate and report on spend, pricing, and RFP scoring data
