Job Description – Supply Chain Director

The Supply Chain Director will be responsible for optimizing the company's manufacturing network and planning processes. This role requires a strategic problem solver with a deep understanding of supply chain dynamics, manufacturing optimization, and planning methodologies. The successful candidate will drive efficiencies, reduce costs, and improve overall supply chain performance to support the company's growth and operational goals. They will identify network optimization opportunities and collaborate with other divisional and functional teams to implement the network moves. Additionally, the candidate will drive special projects in supply chain planning for different businesses.

Key Responsibilities

Manufacturing Network Optimization:

Develop and implement strategies to optimize the manufacturing network, including facility locations, capacity planning, and prioritization.

Analyze the current manufacturing network and find opportunities for consolidation to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align the manufacturing network with market demand and business objectives.

Evaluate and select efficient locations to consolidate existing ones based on cost, performance, and strategic importance.

Develop and maintain key performance indicators to track the efficiency of optimization efforts and report findings to senior management.

Supply Chain Planning:

Work with divisions/business units to set up a process to consolidate individual demand signals into a single demand signal for Thermo Fisher

Work with External and internal manufacturing site leaders to develop production plans and priorities

Develop material requirements based on consolidated demand signals for external manufacturing partners

Work with internal/external manufacturing partners to identify planning process improvement opportunities

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience. MBA in Operations or Supply Chain preferred

10+ years of experience in any of the following – Supply chain planning, manufacturing network optimization, supply chain analytics, supply chain, and operations consulting

Proven understanding of footprint consolidation concepts and principles, manufacturing cost allocations, and supply chain planning

Highly knowledgeable regarding MRP principles and system dynamics

Highly proficient in handling and analyzing data in Excel; complex pivot tables & reporting, power query, advanced charting, data analysis

Ability to demonstrate influencing skills, judgment, and tact in dealing with internal and external customers.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience supporting the creation of processes outside an ERP environment and integrating them into the environment

Familiarity with Network optimization tools and techniques

Certified in production and inventory management, supply chain management, or Project management; APICS CPIM, CSCP, Project management PMP, or ISM CPSM

Planning and scheduling experience in a manufacturing environment using MRP/ERP tools
