JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The Security Specialist provides support to all end users within the organization by processing information and analyzing content or issues to determine a course of action in regards to: life safety, emergency security situations, and enterprise security operations including police/security officer coverage. Maintains operations by monitoring, observing, responding to and reporting incidents, errors and improper coverages. Acts as alarm monitoring station for all Schnuck properties as they respond to and dispatch for alarms and troubles with LiveView Surveillance Systems, Freedom Case activation, Salient video management systems. Coordinates service, repair, maintenance and problem resolution with and between the Security Team and third party solution providers. Documents and reports incidents and resolutions with service tickets, incident reporting, and procedures. Provide after-hours support for all locations as first line security contact.

THIS ROLE IS LOCATED IN ST LOUIS, MISSOURI.

This is a full-time role. Candidates must be flexible to work shifts Monday-Sunday between 6am-10pm and additional overnight hours are possible.

This position is an on-site role (not hybrid). Most shifts will be at our Store Support Center with some shifts taking place directly in our stores.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide end user support for the prevention, detection, and apprehension of criminal actors in and around Schnucks' properties to enhance overall life safety and security. Utilize security technology such as video management systems, Freedom Case alerts and LiveView alerts to identify, document, and respond to criminal activity.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all Asset Protection Hotline emergency and non-emergency calls. Respond quickly and effectively to all emergency situations, instruct stores, alert of guard issues, coordinate Behavioral Health Response (BHR) for Operation's 'Complex' stores, involve law enforcement or elevate the situation to appropriate supervisor.
  • Physical, on site surveillance of potential dishonest teammates and Organized Retail Crime suspects in our stores and or property when assigned. Other assignments and special projects by asset protection management.
  • Conduct video review of previous or recently-occured incidents and appropriately document the situation utilizing the department Loss Prevention Management System.
  • React to all security staffing anomalies reported and/or realized to ensure all third-party security posts are staffed as scheduled. Serve as a resource for security-related questions and concerns and advise store and facility management about policy, procedure, and protocol.
  • Act as liaison for law enforcement agencies in order to assist in active or ongoing investigations, apply for warrants and appear in court to represent Schnucks when needed
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Required Education: High school education
  • Other Requirements: Security or camera monitoring experience is required. Front-line retail (grocery ideal) experience is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum Years of Experience: 1 to 3 years
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge
    • Working knowledge of Google platform, Loss Prevention Management System, Video Management Systems, Freedom Case, LiveView, AiPhone and other Security team technology resources
    • Professional and thorough reporting techniques
    • Understanding of security and safety policy, procedure, and standards
    • Shoplifting behavior and techniques
    • De-escalation techniques
  • Skills & Abilities
    • Ability to handle potentially stressful situations while giving direction over the phone to store and facility teams.
    • Ability to communicate clearly with both verbal and written communication skills and an attention to detail
    • Ability to work effectively and efficiently under limited supervision and make appropriate decisions on the application of policy
    • Ability to multitask - view multiple cameras/systems at once while taking phone calls and building previous case documents and files
    • Ability to obtain appropriate security license

  • Work Environment
    • The incumbent will spend a majority of their time at the Security Operations Center (SOC). When at the SOC, they will be sitting for long periods of time monitoring computers screens and answering the Asset Protection hotline.
  • May be assigned to a store on occasion. When assigned to a store walking and standing for several hours may be included.
  • Work consists of hours outside of normal business hours to include nights, weekends, and holidays. Work will primarily be conducted within the hours of 6am-10pm to best cover all of the hours our retail stores operate with potential for overtime if necessary and authorized.

Additional Requirements - Internal candidates:
  • Store/Facility Teammates: minimum of six months employment with Schnucks.
