About the RoleR.A Jones is seeking a highly skilled Director of Quality and Continuous Improvement to join their growing team. The Director of Quality and Continuous Improvement will lead the development and execution of quality initiatives to enhance customer satisfaction, product performance, and operational efficiency across R.A Jones facilities. This role will drive continuous improvement, build collaborative teams, and present key performance metrics to leadership. Travel (10%-25%) is required.
In this role, you are expected to:
Assume full responsibility for strategic design, implementation, training, and development of all quality and continuous improvement initiatives across R.A Jones facilities (Covington, KY & Davenport, IA).
Develop and maintain quality metrics and systems to track and improve customer satisfaction and quality performance.
Ensure quality of materials throughout the machining and assembly facilities.
Lead policy, strategy, and direction for quality and continuous improvement, using Six Sigma and other techniques.
Build effective, collaborative teams aligned with organizational goals.
Collaborate cross-functionally to drive continuous improvements in the end-to-end Value Streams, with potential application across Coesia North America.
Implement a robust quality system that enhances product performance, customer satisfaction, and cost reduction.
Partner with Purchasing, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Engineering on VAVE initiatives, ensuring high reliability and customer satisfaction.
Develop a high-performing team ready for growth and advancement.
Drive quality initiatives from project inception to customer delivery (Supplier to Customer Quality).
Coordinate with Planning and Purchasing to ensure reliable purchasing initiatives, high-quality products, and cost efficiency.
Foster a success-oriented, accountable environment with actionable strategies for growth and cost savings.
Collaborate with Operations to ensure continuous improvement in manufacturing and assembly.
Align quality initiatives with new equipment and parts within a custom job shop.
Present monthly KPIs to the executive team, ensuring alignment with company goals and ethical standards.
Other duties as assigned.
What You Need to Be Successful
8-12 years of progressive leadership in Quality & Continuous Improvement, preferably with experience leading company-wide transformations in a manufacturing environment.
Black Belt certification preferred, with experience leading and training teams in Six Sigma methodologies; Master Black Belt is ideal but may exceed current compensation limits.
Strong experience in Lean and Six Sigma tools, with a preference for those with a background in transformational Lean initiatives.
Bachelor's degree required, ideally in a STEM field; Black Belt credentials may offset the need for a specific degree focus.
Experience in industrial machining, fabrication, or assembly, with single or multi-plant operations, especially in custom-machined or automated solutions.
SAP and Industry 4.0 digitalization exposure preferred.
Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, with experience leading cross-functional teams.
Excellent planning, organizing, and change management abilities, with a strong results-oriented approach.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM software.
Ability to present and communicate effectively with team members, senior management, customers, and suppliers.
Willing to travel globally (10%-25%).
Proven ability to drive disciplined processes and hold teams accountable for results.
Strong customer focus, with the ability to understand and address customer and partner needs strategically.
