Job Purpose

The Director, Operations will collaborate with the Senior Vice Provost in determining and executing the strategy for Partnerships, Workforce, and International Initiatives (PWII). Plan, organize, and implement division-wide projects and programs, particularly for the College to Career initiative, to meet commitments. Lead and/or assist in the planning, problem identification, solution development, and establishment of processes and protocols. In addition, this position assists the Senior Vice Provost with establishing strategic relationships and represents the Senior Vice Provost and the university when necessary. Coordinates the work of peers and their direct reports to move the work of the unit forward. The position reports to the Senior Vice Provost, Partnership, Workforce, and International Initiatives.

Essential Functions

Collaborate with the Senior Vice Provost in developing and implementing strategies and plans for the College to Career (C2C) initiative by working with Schools and Colleges, faculty, and staff to coordinate C2C program initiatives, projects, program and activities.

Partner with units campus-wide to plan and manage C2C related community events, programs, and other educational outreach activities.

Provide leadership to the Executive and Professional Development program and oversee the strategic growth of both credit and non-credit continuing education programs and certificates.

Represent the Senior Vice Provost with internal and external partners.

Work in partnership with the Senior Vice Provost as a thought collaborative in developing strategies, setting policies, and prioritizing goals. Advise the Senior Vice Provost on staffing and university issues.

Coordinate through managed personnel administrative responsibilities across a large organizational structure, including the flow of confidential communications with the senior management team.

Manage cross-functional relationships with administrators, faculty, staff, students, government, and business leaders. Coordinate entities to achieve individual and/or university objectives.

Develop strategies for implementing special projects related to university engagement, educational outreach and international programs based on a thorough understanding of the educational programs, operational functions, and strategic plans of the university and its schools, colleges, and divisions.

Develop and maintain high level partnerships with federal and global stakeholders for a variety of educational outreach projects and international programs, including embassy relations.

Provide management support to the Senior Vice Provost with university initiatives and special projects as assigned by the Provost and President.

Provide detail-oriented leadership in managing the fast-paced activities of the office of the Senior Vice Provost, including the implementation of the strategic plan and coordination of the work of other directors to further unit and university-wide objectives.

Work closely with the Director of Business Affairs to ensure accurate and timely customer service and service delivery.

Provide management support to the President, Provost and both Assistant Vice Presidents for Strategic Initiatives when needed.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education

Master's degree from an accredited university in Higher Education and Student Affairs, or related field.

Experience

Expert (established subject matter expert, 7+ years experience) with prior international operations experience, advising skills, preferably in higher education. Expertise in grant writing, program design and execution. Prior experience in supervising full-time staff and managing a departmental budget.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of international higher education and community college programs.

Knowledge of career engaged learning practices.

Ability to adjust priorities based on departmental needs.

Knowledge of U.S. Department of State regulations and exchange programs.
