Cyber Security SME - $225,000 - Hybrid


About the Role:

One of our premier clients are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Cyber Security Expert (SME) to lead our cybersecurity strategy, assessment, and protection initiatives. The SME will be responsible for identifying and mitigating cyber threats, developing advanced security protocols, and guiding the organization in adopting best practices for a secure digital environment. This is a critical role, offering both technical and strategic direction in our cybersecurity efforts.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Cybersecurity Strategy: Develop, implement, and oversee cybersecurity strategies, policies, and procedures tailored to safeguard the organization's data and systems.
  • Risk Assessment & Mitigation: Conduct regular risk assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration tests to identify potential threats; design and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Security Architecture: Advise on and contribute to the design and architecture of secure networks, systems, and applications to ensure data integrity, confidentiality, and availability.
  • Incident Response: Lead incident response efforts, including detection, containment, eradication, and post-incident analysis, ensuring quick and effective threat neutralization.
  • Compliance & Governance: Ensure that all security measures meet regulatory compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, ISO 27001, NIST) and align with industry best practices.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with IT, legal, and business teams to integrate security considerations into all aspects of the organization, including product development and vendor management.
  • Training & Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior security team members, fostering a culture of cybersecurity awareness throughout the organization.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of the latest cybersecurity trends, emerging threats, and technologies; proactively update security measures as needed.


Requirements:

  • Experience: 8+ years of experience in cybersecurity, with 5+ years as a subject matter expert or similar senior-level role.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or GIAC are strongly preferred.
  • Technical Proficiency: Deep knowledge of security frameworks, tools, and protocols; proficiency in incident management, threat modeling, and vulnerability assessment.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to convey complex security concepts to non-technical stakeholders, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; capacity to think creatively and adapt to evolving cyber threats.
