The Department of Lab Specimen Collection and Accessioning at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Phlebotomist/Clinical Laboratory Technologist 4. The successful candidate will:

  • Perform venipuncture and fingerstick collection on inpatients and outpatients
  • Maintain accurate logs of all venipuncture performed
  • Process/handle specimens in Central Receiving area
  • Log specimens via LIS (Cerner)
  • Participate in all aspects of quality assurance, quality control, patient safety, continuing education and other aspects as needed
  • Train and aid in the instrumentation of techniques to new personnel and house staff

Required Qualifications:

  • One year of experience in venipuncture and clinical laboratories

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Phlebotomy certification, ASCP certification or equivalent preferred

Work Schedule:

Variable Days; Variable Hours

Salary Grade/Rank:

SL-1

Salary Range:

Commensurate with experience and qualifications
