We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist for an exciting opportunity at the William Beaumont Army Medical Center (WBAMC). You will be an integral part of a dedicated team, supporting soldier mobilizations, demobilizations, and medical readiness for Active Military, ARNG, DA Civilians, and contractor personnel. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Phlebotomy and Patient Care:
    1. Perform safe and trauma-free phlebotomy techniques, including vital sign and hemoglobin measurements.
    2. Provide post-draw assistance to Service Members (SMs), ensuring patient safety and care.
  2. Quality and Compliance:
    1. Adhere to quality standards as set by the American Association of Blood Banks and the FDA.
    2. Perform quality control checks on equipment and reagents.
    3. Organize blood collection stations ensuring adequate supply levels.
  3. Record-Keeping and Data Entry:
    1. Maintain legible and accurate records for all procedures, including vital signs, hemoglobin determination, and phlebotomy.
    2. Use computer systems for donor registration, record management, and documentation.
  4. Safety and Environmental Standards:
    1. Collect and dispose of biohazard materials in line with safety protocols.
    2. Complete all required DoD, DHA, and MTF training, and comply with health and immunization requirements.
  5. Productivity & Compliance:
    1. Adhere to productivity standards and maintain a level of performance consistent with other team members.
    2. Ensure compliance with health, immunization, and vaccination requirements, and complete all specified DoD, DHA, and MTF training.


WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent with completion of NAACLS or a two (2) part phlebotomy program.

Experience:
  • At least one (1) year as a full-time phlebotomist in a hospital, blood-bank, or lab setting within the last three (3) years.

Licensure & Certifications:
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.

Skills & Competencies:
  • Attention to Detail:
    1. Ability to adhere to the highest standards as outlined by the American Association of Blook Banks and the FDA.
  • Commitment:
    1. Ability to meet Military Treatment Facility (MTF) productivity and quality standards and complete DoD, DHA, and MTF training requirements.
  • Confidentiality Awareness:
    1. Understanding of HIPAA guidelines and patient confidentiality, ensuring all patient interactions and records are managed with discretion.

WORK CONDITIONS:

Location:
  • Work will primarily be performed at William Beaumont Army Medical Center (WBAMC) and affiliated facilities within a forty (40) mile radius with potential assignments based on operational needs.

Schedule:
  • Hours may vary based on mission requirements, including surge support during mobilizations and demobilizations. Flexibility is required to meet mission demands.

Compliance:
  • Follow government, DoD, and MTF clinical standards, and record work hours accurately in DMHRSi and other required systems.
