Job Summary:

The Phlebotomist provides expertise in blood draws and specimen preparation. Their ability to put patients at ease and obtain sufficient samples with minimal discomfort is critical to our commitment to high-quality care for our patients and those of our partners.

Key Responsibilities:

• Patient Interaction:
• Greet patients and ensure they are comfortable during the blood draw process. Ask identifying questions to verify patient information.
• Blood Draws:
• Perform blood draws efficiently and effectively while minimizing discomfort for patients across a wide demographic.
• Order Management:
• Review orders on the pegboard upon arrival at the shift and coordinate with nursing staff to obtain patients for blood draws.
• Refusal Documentation:
• If a patient refuses the draw, document the refusal on the order and proceed to the next patient.
• Processing Specimens:
• Assist with processing specimens on Saturdays and Sundays for courier pickup.
• Training and Development:
• Participate in training sessions to enhance skills and become proficient in blood draw techniques and specimen handling.

Required Qualifications:

• Proven experience in phlebotomy or a related field is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse patient populations.
• Ability to remain calm and professional in a clinical environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification in phlebotomy or completion of a phlebotomy training program is a plus.
