Our client is a large non-profit that was established in 1968, providing essential tools and knowledge for recovery, positively impacting hundreds of thousands of lives. They are looking for an Accounting Manager to join the team ASAP! This client is located in Downtown Chicago, will start out in office then move to a hybrid schedule. The Accounting Manager is responsible for:
- Oversees and directs area employees engaged in monitoring and maintaining assigned accounts.
- Participates in developing area procedures for financial and accounting functions, and ensures accurate and timely work.
- Directs the preparation and review of monthly financial statements.
- Plans and directs the workflow for annual audit and performs critical review and analysis of reports.
- Develops and implements a cross-training schedule for key accounting functions.
- Investigates and resolves more complex accounting problems.
- Participates in the hiring and evaluation of assigned subordinates and preparation of various special projects.
Requirements:
- Advanced knowledge of accounting principles, theories, and systems; and ability to analyze and balance accounts, maintain ledgers and journals, and prepare related statements and reports; at a level normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or closely related field.
- Ability to oversee and organize area activities; and in-depth knowledge of financial and accounting functions and procedures at a level normally acquired through five to seven years progressively more responsible, related experience; with at least three years concurrent supervisory experience. Interpersonal skills necessary to oversee and direct the work of others, and refined communication skills necessary to effectively gather and exchange information with various organization managers, and explain and resolve complex accounting problems.
- Advanced analytical abilities necessary to perform critical review and analyses of financial statements and reports, and develop and administer area procedures.
- Strong Excel skills required. Experience with Great Plaines 2018 is preferred.
The selected candidate will need to work in our downtown office everyday for the first 60 days, and then can work remotely up to 3 days a week.
