We are offering an exciting opportunity for an Accounting Manager/Supervisor to join our team in Dallas, Texas. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing specialized accounting work related to maintaining the general ledger. The role involves directing and coordinating daily activities of the accounting staff to ensure that revenues, expenditures, assets, and liabilities are recorded accurately and quickly.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the daily activities of the accounting department, including managing direct reports and ensuring the accuracy of postings in the general ledger
• Supervise, direct, and review the work of the accounting staff, including cash reconciliations, account statement reconciliations, check runs, accounts receivable and payable transactions, payroll, fixed asset activity, and debt activity
• Coordinate the preparation of financial reports for monthly board meetings, including quarterly and annual financial statements
• Maintain an organized set of detailed records and files to document financial transactions
• Assist other personnel in resolving complex accounting issues
• Oversee cash management, including the placement and movement of funds in various trusts
• Coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities, ensuring all financial transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner
• Develop and implement recommendations to improve accounting processes and procedures
• Work collaboratively with multiple teams to establish and maintain effective relationships with the public, other departments, and agencies.
Skills:
• Strong understanding of Accounting Functions, including Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Proficiency in General Ledger management and Financial Statement Preparation
• Experience with Grant Accounting, Tax - Form 990, 501C3
• Familiarity with Billing Functions
• Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain detailed records
• Ability to work effectively under stressful conditions and exercise sound judgement
• Ability to develop and establish financial policies and procedures.• Proven experience as an Accounting Manager, Accounting Supervisor, or similar role for a minimum of 5 years
• In-depth understanding of Accounting Functions
• Proficiency in managing Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Experience with Billing Functions
• Familiarity with General Ledger operations
• Knowledge of Grant Accounting principles
• Proficient in Financial Statement Preparation
• Experience with Tax - Form 990
• Familiarity with 501C3 regulations
• Strong analytical skills coupled with attention to detail
• Excellent organizational abilities
• Outstanding communication and leadership skills
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant field is a must
• Relevant certification (e.g. CMA or CPA) will be preferred.
