The Director of Accounting will lead and expand the capabilities of our Corporate Accounting, including the General Accounting, Financial Reporting, and Payroll teams, to ensure accurate financial reporting, maintain compliance with regulatory standards, and drive continuous process improvements. This role will guide the team in maintaining timely and compliant accounting practices while fostering staff development through coaching and mentorship.

What You’ll Do

  1. Manage a high-performing team of Finance and Accounting professionals.
  2. Lead the month-end and year-end close process; perform reviews to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP; publish timely financial statements and analyze variances.
  3. Oversee the execution of all periodic filings with the SEC.
  4. Draft and review technical and complex accounting matters. Manage strategic transactions such as M&A and strategic investments to ensure proper accounting and reporting compliance and assist with actions required for execution or implementation.
  5. Oversee the payroll function and ensure appropriate processes are in place and functioning to run payroll accurately and on time.
  6. Design and drive process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of accounting operations.
  7. Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with GAAP, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
  8. Perform oversight of periodic audits. Manage internal controls and compliance programs and support SOX compliance efforts.
  9. Partner with FP&A to help deliver accurate quarterly forecasts.
  10. Develop and grow a team that demonstrates performance excellence. Mentor team members to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and teamwork.

  2. Technical Accounting: Strong knowledge of accounting standards and disclosure requirements under US GAAP and SEC regulations.

  5. Analytical and Problem Solving: Ability to lead decision-making through analytics.

  9. Business Advocacy: Trusted advisor with the ability to drive business insights and accountability.

Must Haves

  1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
  2. CPA licensed in California with public accounting experience (Big4 is a plus).
  3. 10+ years of relevant work experience, big 4 public accounting firm experience preferred.
  4. Proven success in leading and developing an accounting team.
  5. Strong communication and interpersonal skills; concise communication with senior leadership.
  6. Robust technical accounting experience and experience with Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
  7. Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems; experience with NetSuite is a plus.

The base salary we expect to pay for this role is $160,000 - $215,000. The actual base salary may vary based on skills, experience, and qualifications. Your recruiter can share more about specific salary expectations during the hiring process.
