About the Opportunity:
The Senior Manager of Accounting will oversee the company’s accounting functions, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and effective internal controls. This remote role (located near San Diego/New York City) requires a strategic leader with extensive experience in accounting, financial analysis, and team management. The Senior Manager of Accounting will collaborate with the financial team and other departments to drive financial performance and support business objectives. Responsibilities include:
- Overseeing Wholesale general ledger, and related account reconciliations and monthly closings.
- Management of Wholesale and Retail inventory. This will include monthly reconciliations, activity reporting, and analysis of slow-moving and obsolete inventory.
- Manage sales tax filings, ensuring timely and accurate processing of transactions with third-party assistance.
- Oversee preparation and review of monthly and annual financial statements, ensuring GAAP compliance and coordinating external audits.
- Identify and lead projects to improve processes relating to financial systems, reporting tools, and accounting efficiency.
- Supervise, mentor, manage and develop staff, conducting performance evaluations and fostering cross-functional collaboration.
- Collaborate with the Financial Planning and Analysis team to review monthly results and handle ad hoc financial reporting.
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience, including 3-5 years in a management or supervisory role
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and accounting principles
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Ability to analyze complex financial data and provide strategic insights
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Experience with financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting
- Nice to Have: CPA or CMA certification is highly preferred
