Responsibilities:
The Accounting Associate position within the Development Community Advisory - Tribal team offers a great opportunity to be part of a growing team and be a valued business advisor delivering financial/accounting services to tribal clients.
The tribal CFO advisory team completes monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting, and they use their deep understanding of industry requirements and stakeholder needs to provide excellent services through continuous process improvements and technology intervention.
Their pool of trained accounting professionals has experience delivering accounting services in different geographies, which allows them to establish themselves as a trusted strategic partner to their clients. They have a passion for responding to change with agility and innovation, which is critical in today's fast-paced business environment.
Our scope of engagement typically includes the following:
- General ledger account reconciliations
- Audit preparation and continued preparedness throughout the year
- Grant management
- Cash management
- CFO services
Experience in General ledger process
- Experience in fund accounting for US governments
- Well versed in AR and AP accounting / process.
- Required to have good knowledge of accounting concepts related to Profit and Loss Account, Balance sheet and cash flow statement.
- Understanding of key areas about the finalization of accounts.
- Experience in handling month end activities along with preparation of all the Balance sheet account schedule
- Books closure, Month end activities, accruals, prepaid, Fixed assets, deferrals etc.
- Bank & Balance sheet reconciliation process, journal entries
- Will balance serving multiple clients
- Experience with US GAAP and GASB accounting should be an added advantage.
- Good knowledge and ability to work on different accounting applications like Quick books and MIP fund accounting software.
- Knowledge of quarterly grant/ SF-425 FFR reporting requirements. Grant management and compliance requirements.
- Ability to understand and advise on grant requirements.
- Strong analytical skills and should be comfortable working in excel and other reporting tools.
- Should demonstrate flexibility, adaptability, and multi-tasking to meet deadlines.
- Good quality written and verbal communication skills, strong listening skills.
- Experience in inter- company reconciliations/ due-to/ due from reconciliations.
- Should be able to take calls with client and build good rapport.

Qualifications:
- 1-3 years accounting degree or equivalent, directly relevant experience.
- Minimum of 1+ years of experience in GL accounting. The position offers frequent opportunities to travel onsite to client locations throughout the US.
- Demonstrated skills in the areas of time management, communication, interpersonal skills, relationship building, collaboration, and problem solving
- Developing leadership, project management, organizational and analytical skills, initiative, adaptability
- Microsoft Suite skills
- Eligibility to work in the U.S. without sponsorship preferred
