Job Summary: Under the direction of the Assistant Controller, the Accounting Intern assists in the implementation of policies and practices for financial management, payroll, budget control, and accounting. The Accounting Intern handles a wide range of important duties with the objective of leaving the internship with a more solid understanding of the world of Accounting and Finance.
Principle Responsibilities:
- Perform monthly journal entry preparation.
- Assist with month-end financial reports.
- Post journal entries utilizing Accounting software.
- Assist with accounts receivable, payable and bank statement reconciliation.
- Balance sheet reconciliation.
- Work with the Assistant Controller and Accounting team on forecasting efforts.
- Support the payment processing team.
- Data entry and administrative tasks as assigned.
Requirements:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Solid understanding of basic Accounting principles and theories.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to meet deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with a strong attention to detail.
- Service oriented and ability to collaborate with a team.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software; intermediate knowledge of Excel.
- Ability to learn and work within various software, including NetSuite/enterprise software and Salesforce CRM.
Training and Education:
- Junior/Senior major in Accounting or Finance enrolled as a full-time student with a current overall GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Complete all required training as assigned.
Working Environment and Requirements to Perform Job Responsibilities
- Ability to work assigned schedule.
- Ability to work in a shared office, private office, and/or cubicle in accordance with job duties and responsibilities.
- Ability to be on location and/or assigned confidential location(s) for client services for all work hours.
- Effective with shifting roles, responsibilities, and expectations in a changing work environment.
- Ability to see computer screen, read, and complete forms
- Ability to lift up to 10 pounds with the ability to push, pull, bend, reach, and sit.
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time/work at a desk.
- Ability to answer the phone in a busy environment – hear callers and be responsive.
- Ability to work in a high intensity/fast paced work environment and be able to multi-task and prioritize.
