The Accounting Manager position will play a key role in the credit union’s success by overseeing the financial reporting function, ensuring compliance with GAAP, managing departmental staff and performance, and maintaining accurate and timely financial records. This role supports effective decision-making through financial statement preparation, budget monitoring, and investment management while ensuring compliance with state, federal, and industry regulations.
What you’ll do:
- Team Leadership: Supervise and evaluate Accounting/Finance staff, providing coaching, performance evaluations, and training plans.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and deliver timely and accurate monthly financial statements, general ledger reconciliations, and accounting entries.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal policies, and regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), OFAC, and the Patriot Act.
- Budgeting: Assist in preparing the annual budget and maintain variance reporting.
- Auditing: Collaborate with third parties during audits and examinations, and oversee the preparation of regulatory filings, including the quarterly Call Report.
- Operational Oversight: Oversee accounts payable, vendor management, fixed asset tracking, inventory management, and monthly reporting for branch accounting and product profitability.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Foster effective interdepartmental relationships and provide support for other departments as needed.
To Qualify for this position, You’ll Need:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA preferred).
- Experience: Proven experience in financial reporting, team leadership, and accounting operations, preferably in a credit union or financial institution.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and regulatory compliance.
- Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
