Accounting Supervisor-Leasing Job at LKQ in Antioch

Responsible for leading the analysis and review of the monthly accounting close process and assisting with the timely and accurate preparation of branch-level financial statements.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Direct general accounting activities, including the preparation, maintenance and reconciliation of ledger accounts and financial statements.
  • Prepare, record, analyze and report accounting transactions and ensures the integrity of accounting records for completeness, accuracy and compliance with accepted accounting policies and principles.
  • Review, create and post journal entries. Prepare and review monthly balance sheet account analyses for assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Direct financial support and analyzing variations from budget and trend.
  • Direct accounting reports/schedules for internal audiences (management reporting) and/or for external audiences (compliance reporting) including consolidation of financial statements.
  • Supervise ongoing support to Field for development of annual operating budgets.
  • Initiate and support the continual improvement of LKQ Corporation, Inc. quality improvement system.
  • Act as a liaison for ad hoc reporting and audit requests from other internal departments.
  • Manage process improvement projects
  • Stay apprised of new accounting trends.
  • Assumes other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Supervise the work of others, including planning, assigning and scheduling work, reviewing work and ensuring quality standards, training staff and overseeing productivity.
  • May offer recommendations for hiring, termination and pay adjustments, but do not have final responsibility for making these decisions.
Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
  • 5+ years direct related experience
  • Conducts complex, important work under minimal supervision and with wide latitude for independent judgment
Preferred Qualifications:
  • CPA certification
  • Experience in a corporate accounting environment
  • Prior lead experience
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Intermediate to excellent skill level in Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to seek out relevant information.
  • Ability to apply math computation skills including basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and statistics and other mathematical concepts used in modeling.
  • Maintain strong focus on details, working with complex issues.
  • Knowledge of accounting distribution and ability to verify correctness and completeness of such information.
  • Knowledge of U.S. GAAP and FASB regulations and procedures.
  • Ability to formulate policy and document processes and procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to create, organize and maintain Excel spreadsheets and Word documents.
  • Must demonstrate initiative, leadership, and the ability to communicate effectively.
  • Possess strong work ethic and commitment to completing responsibilities.
Essential Physical Demands/Work Environment:
  • Office environment, requires walking, standing, or sitting for several hours at time.
  • Perform repetitive motion tasks on computer.
  • May require occasional travel.
