Description

Position: Accounting Department Manager

Reports To: Senior VP of Business Operations/CFO

Summary: Responsible for overseeing all accounting operations. This role involves managing financial transactions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and implementing financial controls.

Key Responsibilities: (Other duties may be assigned)
  • FINANCIAL REPORTING & ANALYSIS:
    • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
    • Manage the month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
    • Prepare and review financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • BUDGETING & FORECASTING:
    • Develop and maintain the annual budget in collaboration with the CFO and other department heads.
    • Monitor and report on budget variances, providing actionable insights to improve financial performance.
    • Prepare and analyze financial forecasts to support strategic decision-making.
  • COMPLIANCE & CONTROLS:
    • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including tax reporting and audits.
    • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
    • Oversee external audits and coordinate with auditors to ensure a smooth and efficient audit process.
  • TEAM LEADERSHIP:
    • Manage and mentor a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
    • Foster a collaborative and results-driven team environment.
    • Drive continuous improvement in accounting processes and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • PROJECT ACCOUNTING:
    • Oversee the accounting for construction projects, including job cost tracking, revenue recognition, and project profitability analysis.
    • Work closely with project managers to provide financial insights and support project decision-making.
    • Ensure accurate and timely billing and collection of project-related revenues.
  • FINANCIAL STRATEGY:
    • Collaborate with senior management to develop and implement financial strategies that align with the company's goals and objectives.
    • Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support business growth and profitability.
    • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in financial management.
Qualifications:
  • EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in finance or accounting, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
    • Experience in managing multiple accounts/companies is highly desirable.
  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
    • Thorough knowledge and understanding of financial reporting standards (GAAP/IFRS) and industry-specific regulations.
    • Knowledge of State and local statutory requirements that govern financial reporting and accounting.
    • Proficient in financial software and ERP systems, with experience in Sage Accounting Software (Intacct, 50), SAP, QuickBooks, etc.
      • Intermediate in payroll/HRIS software & systems (i.e., Paychex Flex, etc.) is preferred.
    • Advanced in Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, etc.)
    • Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
    • High level of integrity and professionalism, with a commitment to ethical financial management.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.


The Accounting Department Manager must be willing to comply with PCM Health, Safety, and Environmental rules and regulations. They must also comply with all governmental regulations.
