Position Summary
This is an on-site position, reporting to our Headquarters in Santa Cruz, CA. The Senior Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations, managing the month-end close process, producing accurate GAAP compliant financial reports, and providing strategic financial insights to the organization.
We are looking to hire a candidate with strong understanding of US GAAP accounting principles, financial analysis, and managerial skills to deliver meaningful, accurate, actionable, and timely reporting and analysis for the C-suite and all levels of operational leadership throughout the Verve LLC organization.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements and financial footnotes compliant with US GAAP
- Manage the accounting close process, including journal entries and reconciliations, necessary for financial statement preparation.
- Compute, reconcile and post journal entries for Fixed Asset Depreciation, Lease Accounting (ASC 842) for ROU Assets & LT/ST Liability, Credit Card expenses, Payroll & Expense Reimbursements, Interest Accruals on Loans, Prepayments and Accruals, Intercompany, and Inventory/COGS entries on a monthly and quarterly basis as needed within the QuickBooks Accounting System.
- Prepare Quarterly Consolidated Tangible Net Worth Reports for Bank
- Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
Accounting Operations & Compliance:
- Supervise the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable staff and resolve any issues as they arise.
- Review the month-end checklist and sign-off on the monthly reconciliations for all major balance sheet items
- Prepare and file sales & use tax reports for state and local tax compliance
- Establish and maintain a strong system of internal controls to safeguard company assets, prevent fraud, and ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Strengthen internal controls and ensure compliance with all applicable financial regulations, tax laws, and industry standards
Financial Analysis & Insights:
- Prepare financial forecasts and budget variance reports, by business unit across wholesale, retail and web, providing insights for strategic decision-making
- Prepare & update the rolling 13-week cashflow forecast and analyze budget variances to identify areas for cost reduction, process improvement, and risk mitigation
- Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, assess financial performance, and evaluate the effectiveness of operational strategies
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA certification with a minimum 5-7 years of experience in accounting, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory role
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial accounting principles
- Proficiency in Microsoft excel and QuickBooks accounting software
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Proven leadership and management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
