OVERALL JOB PURPOSE

Plans, directs, coordinates, implements, and promotes an engaging activities and wellness program to enrich the quality of life for all residents. Fulfills Sunshine standards which address the needs, abilities and limitations of residents while upholding our values of People, Passion, and Excellence.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Must be 21 years of age.

Knowledge of and ability to conform to applicable laws, rules, and regulations and meets state or provincial health related requirements (as applicable for position).

In addition to the above, the following skills are preferred: experience serving senior citizens; familiarity with laws and regulations applicable to the Community, and Human Resources.

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (in English), both verbally and in writing, with residents and staff.

A medical card and transportation lift training may be required, as well as a commercial driver’s license for this position; if so, a CDL must be obtained within 90 days of your hire.

Ability to work in a team setting and as a team player.

Possess organizational skills.

Possess excellent customer service skills.

Must be competent and knowledgeable in operations, policies, and procedures.

Maintain a positive, respectful, and professional approach with coworkers and residents.

Ability to keep all business and operations information confidential.

Ability to work under time constraints and meet department deadlines.

Ability to follow and adhere to policies, procedures, and standards.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Leads a minimum of 3 activities daily, including fitness and exercise classes.

Spends 80% of time engaging residents, 20% with administrative duties.

Oversees and directs full activities program to span seven days a week, including nights and weekends.

May be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Adheres to Sunshine Activities and Wellness Standards.

Plans and implements activities of sufficient variety and at sufficient frequency, including as necessary to fulfill any state regulations, with activity categories to include but not be limited to physical, intellectual, social, spiritual, and emotional.

Creates and distributes monthly activities calendar and supplemental publications.

Informs residents of daily activities and ensures the accuracy of information and programming details or, if cancelled, that appropriate alternatives are noted and offered.

Maintains adequate resident participation in activities and records attendance when necessary.

Completes activities-related evaluations for new residents and updates as needed.

Coordinates efforts of community clubs and meetings; including Ambassador Program, Resident Council, Food Service Forums and Town Hall/Management Meetings.

Establishes community involvement through recruitment and training of volunteers, including other team members, residents, and outside community volunteers.

Supervises volunteers, entertainers, religious professionals, and vendors.

Oversees Activity Assistants scheduling and training and may assist with hiring process and review protocols.

Plans, coordinates, and assists with decoration of community for special events, holidays, and seasons.

Orders activities supplies adhering to activities department budget.

Invites residents to activities; assures they are reminded of as necessary.

Assists with proper use of fitness equipment; promptly reports any apparent problems with fitness equipment to Supervisor.

Meets with department heads and other team members on regular basis to discuss activities and large event planning. Coordinate activities with other departments as necessary.

Assists with all marketing requests and social media content.

Promotes appropriate partnerships with outside wellness and industry professionals by acting as a liaison for residents to be introduced to desired services as needed.

Assures activity spaces and any activity supply storage areas are clean and organized, including assuring that any food stored in the Activity Room kitchen is stored securely.

Assists in the planning of community transportation schedules in conjunction with other team members.

Coordinates transportation of residents to and from events outside of the community, which may include driving community transportation and assisting residents entering and exiting the vehicle.

Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

OTHER JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs all work assigned for the agreed-upon salary, accepting no additional payment or non-perishable gifts from residents, vendors, Community management, or others.

Meets the assigned work requirements of the job. Regular attendance is required.

Serves as a role model for all employees by displaying a responsible, cooperative, and positive attitude. Represent the community in a professional, courteous, and friendly manner.

Adheres to dress/appearance code. Changes in attire may be dictated by special occasion or weather conditions. If you have questions, check with your supervisor.

Adheres to all company policies, processes, and standards.

Promotes resident advocacy and demonstrates excellent customer service at all times.

Maintains personnel, resident, and business proprietary and/or confidential matters/material in strict confidence with management of the company (and/or other company staff as needed).

Maintains current food handlers permit as necessary to fulfill state regulations.
