Position Summary
The Vice President, Accounting will serve as a key member of the finance team, overseeing all accounting operations for a rapidly growing SaaS company in the energy sector. This strategic leadership role will focus on ensuring the company’s financial integrity, scalability, and compliance with industry standards as the business continues to expand.
The VP of Accounting will be responsible for leading the accounting team, ensuring accurate financial reporting, implementing robust financial controls, and optimizing financial processes to support both operational efficiency and long-term growth. This individual will work closely with the CFO, executive leadership, and cross-functional teams to align financial strategies with business objectives, drive financial transparency, and support the company’s aggressive growth trajectory in a dynamic market.

Location: Boulder, CO
Salary range: $180K - $220K
Primary Responsibilities:
Lead and oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, revenue recognition, accounts payable, accounts receivable, tax compliance and financial reporting.
Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
Develop and maintain robust internal controls, policies and procedures to safeguard the company’s financial assets and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Mentor a high-performing accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and professional growth.
Partner with the CFO and executive management to provide financial insights, analysis and recommendations that support strategic decision-making.
Drive continuous improvement of accounting processes, ensuring accurate and data-driven projections.
Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory agencies to ensure successful audits and compliance.
Monitor cash flow, working capitol, and key financial metrics, providing actionable insights to improve financial performance and profitability.
Support M&A activities, including financial due diligence, integration and post-acquisition financial management.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Accounting and CPA certification are mandatory.
At least 10 years of proven experience in the accounting profession, with recent financial leadership in a medium to large private equity-backed company.
At least 7 years experience in a nationally recognized accounting firm, culminating as a Sr. Manager along with audit committee experience and strong technical accounting and financial reporting background, including significant M&A exposure.
Extensive knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, tax and regulatory compliance, with a successful track record of managing audits and financial operations.
Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Strategic mindset, with the ability to think analytically, anticipate future trends, and develop innovative solutions to complex financial challenges.
Commitment to integrity, ethics, and professionalism, with a passion for driving organizational excellence and delivering value to shareholders.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial reporting and analysis.
