Responsibilities
The Revenue Accounting Manager will be responsible for supporting the Company's day-to-day revenue accounting operations by ASC 606. The ideal candidate will have experience processing monthly revenue, deferred revenue, and accounts receivable journal entries, account reconciliations, monthly fluctuation analyses, and partnering cross-functionally as an expert in revenue accounting. This position will report to the Director of Revenue and will be expected to work cross-functionally & build relationships across multiple departments.
- Review customer contracts & Salesforce opportunities for completeness and accuracy to determine appropriate revenue recognition by GAAP / ASC 606 and lead the preparation of accounting memos supporting revenue positions.
- Manage segments of the month-end revenue close process, including creating journal entries and reconciliations, maintaining deferred revenue and revenue by customer/vertical schedules, and conducting MoM flux analyses.
- Provide insight and leadership, driving continual process improvements for scalability to meet the requirements of a pre-IPO company.
- Support maintaining ASC 606 revenue sub-ledger, including subscription, professional services, and billing sub-ledgers.
- Assist with on-going projects for streamlining and automating the revenue recognition and month-end close processes.
- Partner with the Sales and Revenue Operations teams to comply with internal policies.
- Conduct periodic reviews and assessments of revenue recognition processes and controls, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Support external audits by providing documentation and explanations related to revenue recognition, deferred revenue, and accounts receivable.
- As needed, provide ad hoc analysis and support for general financial operations to support business and any other special projects.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 4+ years of Big 4 (or similar) public accounting experience
- Experience with SaaS revenue transactions and adhering to ASC 606 accounting guidance
- Advanced Excel capabilities & the ability to work with, manipulate & organize large data sets
- Strong accountability, organization, and attention to detail
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and thrive while also contributing to team KPIs and objectives
- Ability to effectively operate in a fast-paced environment and adapt to change
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and messaging skills
- CPA preferred
- Experience with the high-growth SaaS/Technology industry
- Excellent knowledge of financial systems (ERP, NetSuite, NetSuite ARM, Salesforce)
- Experience scaling revenue and accounts receivable operations
The annual base salary listed below for this role is based on experience, skills, education, relevant training and geographic location. Company bonus, incentive for sales roles, equity, and benefits are available depending on the role.
