POSITION SUMMARY:
Provide leadership and support in the weekly reporting and monthly projection process. Report actual results and prepare budgets and projections for Gross Demand through Commercial Margin in a timely and accurate manner. Provide meaningful analysis, commentary explaining variances, and complete ownership of the brand for which you’re providing analysis.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review, develop and analyze information to assess the current and future financial status for assigned brand.
- Prepare and analyze budgets and projections, report and analyze actual results and variances through profit and loss.
- Report actual results, budget and projection for Balance Sheet and Cash Flow including payables, inventory, paper, catalog costs, and free gifts.
- Report sales by media key for performance analysis through sales variance, media profit and loss, and other reporting vehicles.
- Cost accounting for break-even catalog analysis and profit and loss statements by catalog; used by brand and database marketing.
- Track and investigate variances and provide explanations for profit and loss statement line items.
- Perform month-end close duties with proper accrual accounting and preparation of journal entries for the General Ledger as well as monthly balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Provide support to Planning and Merchandising through analysis of product margin by distribution channel, category and item.
- Cost accounting for profit and loss statements by merchandise departments.
- Provide account reconciliations and analysis for commercial investment related accounts.
- Special projects and analysis as required by the needs of the business.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 2 years financial analysis experience
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Prior experience with major financial reporting systems such as Oracle, SAP, etc.
- Must have the ability to create reports from independent data sources accurately and efficiently provide explanations for variances
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Highly self motivated
- Ability to work independently or cohesively with teams and all levels within the organization and strong interpersonal skills
- Must have exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
- Must be able to work effectively in a fast pace environment and meet challenging deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to identify key business drivers of financial variances
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Advanced degree in finance, accounting, or business
- 5+ years financial analysis experience
- Prior Oracle and Tableau experience
