Job Summary
The Reaves Law Firm (RLF), a dynamic and growing law firm in Memphis, Tennessee, is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join its Finance/Accounting Team. The position will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and will have the support of the Finance Team Leader and the Account Payables Specialist.

Duties/Responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable staff
  • Develop processes and job responsibilities for accounts payable and accounts receivable staff
  • Assist CFO in the preparation of all financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, tax returns, and governmental agency reports.
  • Work with designated Tax Accountant to assist with tax preparation for law firm
  • Works with the CFO and executive leadership to assist in establishing financial goals for the firm and providing a strategy to achieve them
  • Works with the CFO and other executives to prepare and implement budgets and establish priorities for each department.
  • Assist the CFO with managing payroll, month end/year end close, and tax activities to ensure compliance
  • Reviews planning process and suggests improvements to current methods.
  • Monitor all financial transactions
  • Prepare ad hoc reports
  • Creates methods and processes for tracking expenses
  • Compares profit projections to actual figures and budgeted expenses to actual expenses; makes or oversees any necessary adjustments to future projections and budgets.
  • Analyzes operations to identify inefficiencies and areas of need
  • Assist CFO in devising strategies to save the firm money; preparing for executive meeting; and other business-related projects
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the CFO and senior management

Qualifications/Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • Excellent management and supervisory skills.
  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years of leadership/management experience
  • Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and accounting regulations
  • Tax Experience preferred
  • Excellent analytical skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Quick Books Online Must, other accounting computer application systems
  • Proficient with Excel and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent time management
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Mathematical and deductive reasoning
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to access various departments of a given location.
