Position Summary:
The VP of Finance & Accounting will serve as a key member of the leadership team and will be responsible for managing a team of finance & accounting professionals and overseeing the overall financial operations of the company. This role will play a crucial role in driving financial strategy, improving operational efficiencies, forecasting spends and setting budgets, and securing our position as a leader in the industry. This position plays a pivotal role in ensuring financial integrity, compliance, and strategic financial management within the organization. This position requires a combination of technical expertise, leadership skills, and a strategic mindset to contribute to Puttshack's overall success. This position is ideal for a strategic thinker with a proven track record in financial management within fast-paced, growth-oriented companies. This role will report directly to the CEO.
This is a hybrid position with 3 days onsite at Puttshack's headquarters in Chicago with the expectation of travel as needed to support business operations and expansion activities.

Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:
- Serve as a key member of the leadership team to develop and implement the company's financial strategy in alignment with its overall business objectives. Lead financial planning, risk management, and analysis to support strategic decision-making.
- Lead, develop, and oversee the finance & accounting department teams, including accounting, payroll, accounts payable, and any other finance-related departments, ensuring they align with the company's goals and objectives. Mentor and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach: assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, and monitor and evaluate results.
- Develop and implement business goals, projects, policies, procedures, methods and controls across the general accounting activities, including maintenance of general ledgers, analysis of financial statements, review of payroll records, etc.
- Prepare all financial reporting and ensure standardization of processes and protocol according to GAAP.
- Lead FP&A to improve forecasting and financial modeling, and use analysis to drive strategic decisions for allocating capital and measuring ROI.
- Build overall and departmental budgets, including forecasting of revenues, expenditures, year-end balances, cash positions, and cash flows to ensure business continuity and effectiveness.
- Prepare close-out reports as required by state and Federal regulations, profit-loss statements, annual corporate tax, and special financial reports & analysis
- Develop and maintain the internal audit control system and develops and administers the cash management and capital expenditure program
- Leading and managing the annual audit process with external auditors
- Responsible for driving efficient, routine, and compliant close processes that allow for standardization and simplification
- Ensure month-end and quarter-end reporting and reconciliation requirements are in accordance with company policies and procedures across the organization.
- Lead the controllership aspects of ongoing ERP and other related system transformation across the business to streamline operations and support scalable growth.
- Work with operators to accurately report on individual P&L's and collaborate with leadership to determine KPIs and build dashboards to measure overall financial performance of venues.
- Other projects or duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA & MBA is highly preferred
- Extensive experience as a Controller or similar leadership roles in a multi-unit organization
- A minimum of 12+ years of relevant experience, with at least 5 years in a senior or executive leadership role.
- Strong understanding of US GAAP accounting principles required.
- Experience within a fast-growing, dynamic environment within the hospitality, entertainment, or technology sectors strongly preferred.
- Strong analytical capability to tell business stories leveraging financial data
- Ability to articulate complex concepts in clear, simple, and logical terms
- Demonstrated experience in financial planning and analysis, mergers, and acquisitions, managing investor relations, and financial reporting.
- Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to manage and develop high-performing teams.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying complex financial strategies to diverse stakeholders, including non-financial personnel.
- Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to financial management.
- Experience in navigating the complexities of a PE-backed company environment is highly desirable.
- Must be able to travel as needed to support business needs.
- This position must pass a post-offer background check.
- Physical activities on a continuous basis, sit at desk for a long period of time; frequent use of telephone/video conferencing and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means.
- Some walking and lifting, up to 25 lbs. may be required.
