Sr. Scientist, Protein Biochemistry Location: Boston, Massachusetts HireMinds is representing a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical client that is leading the way in developing biologics. Located in an exciting new lab space in Boston's vibrant life sciences corridor, they have a collaborative team with hands-on leadership that is present and invested in the team's success. You'll Be Responsible For: Working as a Scientist or Senior Scientist in a Protein Discovery team with hands-on skills in protein purification and protein characterization. Working on mammalian expression of products including engineered Fc-fusion and recombinant proteins. Performing protein purification with affinity, ion-exchange (IEX), and size-exclusion chromatography (SEC). Progressing programs into downstream testing in Quality Control and characterization utilizing methods including SE-HPLC, SDS-PAGE, UV-Vis spectroscopy, and ELISA. Designing and executing buffer screens and assays to optimize formulations of protein therapeutics. Bringing experience with optimization of protein conjugation and purification processes. Presenting findings through well-structured documentation and engaging oral presentations to peers and management teams. Managing routine maintenance of instrumentation vital to protein biochemistry and collaborating with vendors when necessary. You'll Bring With You: B.S. or M.S. in pharmaceutical, biological, or chemical sciences with 7–8 years of industry experience, or a Ph.D. in a relevant field with 2 years of industrial experience in Biotech or Biopharma. Strong hands-on experience in protein purification and a solid grasp of protein biochemistry. Hands-on experience with instrumentation, including AKTA systems and bioanalytical techniques: HPLC, DSC, SEC-MALS, DSF. Proven ability to design and carry out biochemical or biological assays. Previous experience with protein conjugation chemistry is preferred.
