About the Role

The Company is seeking an Executive Director for its Washington DC region. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting and driving the strategic vision, leading regional teams, and managing a significant budget to ensure the success and sustainability of the region. This role demands a leader who can inspire and motivate staff, has a proven track record in nonprofit management, and is adept at managing diverse teams to achieve transformational outcomes, particularly in the areas of student achievement and talent development. The Executive Director will also be tasked with shaping external conditions for the organization to thrive, including managing community relations, and forging partnerships. Strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and the ability to navigate a highly regulated environment are essential. Candidates for the Executive Director position at the company should have a BA/BS (Master’s or higher preferred) and at least 10 years of professional experience, with a strong background in educational or public administration. The ideal candidate will have a successful history of fundraising, experience with Board management, and a deep commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. They should be strategic, analytical, and possess the ability to make sound decisions in complex situations. The role requires a leader with high emotional intelligence, integrity, and the ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders. The Executive Director will be expected to lead with a spirit of inquiry, be a good listener, and demonstrate a growth mindset, humility, and authenticity in their work.
