About the Role

The Company is seeking an Executive Director for Overdose Response to spearhead the strategic response to the overdose epidemic. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and implementing a citywide response, ensuring that the efforts of various agencies and departments are aligned and not in conflict. This role involves close collaboration with the Health Department, Police, Fire/EMS, and other city agencies, as well as community partners involved in prevention, education, harm reduction, treatment, and recovery support. The Executive Director will also serve as the primary contact for all overdose-related communications and will lead the Mayor's Overdose Cabinet meetings to determine and finalize the city's overdose strategy. Applicants must have a bachelor's degree in public health, public policy, or a related field, with a master's degree being a plus, and a minimum of 10 years of professional experience in public health programming, particularly in the area of substance use disorder and behavioral healthcare. The role requires excellent communication skills, the ability to build strong relationships across diverse backgrounds, and knowledge of the political process and strategies to influence government for the benefit of the department. Preferred experiences include working with local, state, or federal agencies to advance health equity and social justice, as well as a personal connection to the overdose crisis.
