JOB SUMMARY The Sr. Manager of Standards reports to the Senior Director of Pilot Training and is responsible for ensuring that flight training programs maintain regulatory compliance and support the highest levels of safety, quality, and efficiency. The Sr. Manager of Standards oversees, standardization, education, and execution of standards. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Achieve and maintain Evaluator and/or Instructor qualification. Responsible for the initial training, observation, standardization, mentorship, and continued qualification of all APDs, Simulator Instructors, PCPs, Professional Instructors and Line Check Pilots, including training records. Responsible for all flight instructor and evaluator procedures and training materials. Prepare measurable function goals and objectives to meet all position objectives, as well as department and division goals. Take corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy. Coordinate with the Manager of AQP and the AQP Developer in the development training materials that will be distributed to Simulator Instructors, PCPs, Professional Instructors, Line Check Pilots, and students during initial, upgrade, and recurrent training. Assist with the review, analysis, and incorporation of Training, Safety, Operations related information gathered from flight operations reports, the SMS, and Voluntary Safety Programs (ASAP, AQP, FOQA, FRMP, LOSA, IEP, etc.) into the training program to maintain regulatory compliance and support the highest levels of safety, quality, and efficiency. Serve on the Pilot Training Review Board. Track flight training and evaluation activity and recommend adjustments. Immediately notify the Senior Director of Pilot Training & Standards of any discrepancy or irregularity that may affect the ability of Sun Country Airlines to perform within the parameters of safety or regulatory compliance. Manage and track Enhanced Oversight Program for flight and line training events. Coordinate with the Manager of Training Scheduling to manage adjustments to the flight training schedule (sim and line). Coordinate with the other Flight Operations Managers, Supervisors, and other training personnel on operational items to be included in the development of training programs. Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, within the function and occasionally across multiple internal and external functions. Ensure compliance with the current pilot collective bargaining agreement and regulations. Willing to work varied hours including weekends and holidays to meet all contractual deadlines. Present information and professionally respond to questions from management, crewmembers, or other department personnel in the company, to include updating any presentations for senior leadership. Write reports to include but not limited to VDRs and SRAs. Plan and organize Standards Meetings. Conduct audits as necessary. Other duties, as assigned by the Sr. Director of Pilot Training. Travel required: Up to 25% SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: APDs, Simulator Instructors, PCPs, PIs and Line Check Pilots. QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Airline Transport Pilot certificate and type rating. 4 Years of Flight Simulator Instructor and/or Evaluator experience. Broad and in-depth knowledge of aircraft operation, as well as general business knowledge. Previous experience in Flight Training/Standards. Excellent interpersonal and organizational abilities. Superior knowledge of airline policies, procedures, and standards. Strong team management skills. Strong prioritization and time management skills. Proficient with Microsoft applications with emphasis on Excel, Word, Outlook and SharePoint. Must be a highly motivated self-starter, able to perform independently and communicate effectively within a dynamic environment and meet deadlines. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other coworkers, vendors, ALPA and contractors. Must be discrete with sensitive and confidential information. Part 121 Flight Operations Training knowledge. PREFERRED SKILLS Four year college degree in related field. Strong working knowledge of the contents of the B737 aircraft's operating manuals. Project Management experience. WORK ENVIRONMENT This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses Flight Training Devices and standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
