Position Details:
The Child Mind Institute (CMI) is looking for a Managing Director for the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) Global Center for Child and Adolescent Mental Health at the Child Mind Institute (SNF-GC). The Managing Director will ensure that the SNF-GC achieves its goals and will represent the Center to the global community and its team members, promoting growth and expanding impact in the field of child and adolescent mental health worldwide. You will provide strategic advice and support follow-up and initial implementation on opportunities to expand and sustain Global Programs at CMI building from the foundational support from SNF in this Center.
You have operational skills and an understanding of the global mental health landscape. The Managing Director will help evaluate strategic goals, and enhancing the Center's presence among partners and donors.
Reporting to the Vice President (VP) of Global Programs, this is an exempt, full-time, hybrid ( 4 days in office) position located in our NYC headquarters office.
You Will:
Strategic Operational Leadership: You will provide leadership across all component programs of the SNF-GC, ensuring efficient tracking, achievement, and reporting of goals with the VP of Global Programs. This includes collaborating with Program Directors to identify and chart initiative- and project-based operational and administrative needs. It also includes accountability to the Chief Research Officer on “Clinical and Research Innovations” initiative and the “Fellowships (Research)” that are conducted by the Research Department.
Operational Resource and Policy Collaboration: You will work with CMI operational departments (Human Resources, Legal Department, Finance Department, Marketing and Communications Department, IT Department, etc.) to ensure resource allocation and compliance with organizational policies. You will also collaborate with VP of Global Programs and CMI Operations Leadership on the evolution of CMI international needs, planning, processes, and implementation.
Team Management: You will oversee the daily operations of the Coordinating Center, encouraging an inclusive culture and ensuring quality assurance and continuous improvement occurs across SNF-GC teams. Additionally, you will manage direct reports, setting performance plans and milestones and providing feedback and professional development support.
Project Planning: You will oversee Program Director management and evolution of project timelines, implementation plans, and achievement of goals; lead preparation of internal documents, reports, and dashboards to update CMI and SNF leadership and external partners on progress and planning. This includes the maintenance and engagement of the SNF-GC Program Officer(s) and International Advisory Council.
Financial Oversight: You will lead budget development, and forecasting processes for the SNF-GC, with input from Program Directors and CMI Finance, in consideration of the terms and conditions of the SNF grant language.
Partner Engagement: You will establish and maintain relationships with global partners, including government agencies, NGOs, community partners, funding entities, and academic institutions, to facilitate Center implementation and future growth. This may include representation of the SNF-GC to domestic and international donors to promote awareness and secure additional funding opportunities to support sustainability and expansion of global programming.
You Have:
Master's degree in psychology/psychiatry, public health, global health, or a related field is required.
Minimum of 7 years of senior-level operations or project management experience, with at least 4 years experience in global mental health programs or international biomedical/public health programs, to include experience embedded in-country, is required.
Experience managing a team of 10 people or more.
Experience managing a budget of at least $5 million.

Pay Range
The salary range for the position is posted. Factors such as candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations affect the salary offered within this range. In addition, this salary may be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state and depending on the role), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.
