What You'll Do:
In the Janitor role, you’ll will be responsible for the cleaning and maintaining of Interfaith Community Services facilities. This position requires reliability and exemplary customer service when interacting with clients, donors, partners, staff, vendors, and volunteer.
- Must be able to dust, clean, sweep, vacuum, mop, and remove trash
- Cleans and maintains cleanliness of restrooms
- Performs proper cleaning procedure when blood borne pathogens are identified
- Must be able to determine appropriate cleaning materials, supplies, chemicals and tools needed to clean offices, conference rooms, restrooms, and wipe door handles, chairs, and walls with disinfectants
- Monitors adherence to prescribed cleaning and security practices and all safety policies
- Ensures customer satisfaction by maintaining open communication and addressing issues promptly
- Monitors supply levels, prepares orders, and submits orders to Operations Manager for approval
- Attends and participates in program and agency meetings, trainings and events
- Performs additional duties as assigned
Who You Are:

- 1+ years of experience in the janitorial or cleaning industry, preferred
- Experience working with homeless or disabled populations, preferred
- Travel within North San Diego County may be required
SKILLSETS / ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple deadlines and working effectively under pressure, using independent judgment to complete work under time constraints
- Knowledge of the standard methods, practices, tools, and equipment used to clean buildings and furniture
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety rules and regulations
- Knowledge of building and property security procedures
- Ability to organize and coordinate the work of the unit
- Ability to communicate effectively among a diverse workforce population and maintain sound working relations with all levels within the organization
- Work with spirit of enthusiasm, teamwork, cooperation and a sense of urgency
- Maintain a high degree of confidentiality over all matters in the course of business operations including client and employee information
- Ability to multi-task in an efficient, thorough, and prioritized manner
- Ability to work quickly, accurately and independently
- Ability to anticipate needs, prioritize work and solve problems
- Basic knowledge of PC computers and utilizing web-based applications and Internet information
WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to perform manual work associated cleaning buildings and facilities.
- Moderate exposure to unpleasant and noxious fumes and odors, dust, temperatures, noise, and inclement weather
- Occasional exposure to chemicals and hazardous materials, including but not limited to blood, vomit or other human wastes and/or by products
- May be subjected to adverse conditions, including contact from hostile people.
- Must have the physical ability to sit for long periods of time, stand, walk, bend, kneel and uses hands, arms and legs for dexterity and balance on a frequent basis
- Occasionally lifts, carries and balances objects weighing up to 30 pounds
- Pulls and pushes such objects as file drawers, computers and similar office equipment and supplies
- Prioritizes and multi-tasks work and projects requiring good memory, concentration and analytical thinking
- Occasionally is required to perform the safe operation of a vehicle, office equipment and machines, and recognize and abate safety hazards within the workplace
- Must be able to hear, see including distinction of colors, read and communicate verbally and in writing frequently with a wide range of people from divergent socio-economic backgrounds and origins
- Exposure to contagious diseases (hepatitis, HIV, tuberculous, etc.)
- Exposure of unpleasant and noxious fumes, odors, dust, temperatures, noise and inclement weather
- The noise level in the work environment is usually low
Location: On-site/Escondido
Hourly Rate: $20.00
Hours: 7:30am-4:30pm
