The North Carolina Employee Ownership Center’s (NCEOC) mission is to protect jobs, increase community wealth, and create a more vibrant, inclusive economy through employee ownership. We share stories, build partnerships, and provide unbiased information on business succession options like ESOPs, worker cooperatives, and Employee Ownership Trusts (EOTs). Founded in 2019, the NCEOC serves North Carolina, with a focus on BIPOC-owned businesses and workforces. Our vision is shared prosperity and strong local economies. We seek a leader to execute current programs, expand employee ownership in NC, and grow funding and capacity. Website: NCEOC.org Job Title : Executive Director Reports to : NCEOC Board of Directors Compensation Program : Competitive salary based on experience, bonus tied to fundraising, IHCRA, vacation & PTO Location : North Carolina (work from home or co-working office; significant in-person collaboration required) Travel : 20%-40% of the time Salary Range : $80,000-$100,000 based on experience Responsibilities
Management and Fundraising Work closely with the Board of Directors to develop and execute on NCEOC’s strategy and programs Support companies transitioning to employee ownership Identify fundraising opportunities and lead initiatives to secure funding, including corporate, individual, foundation, and municipal grants Manage grants and report metrics Create and manage budget with the support and approval of the Board of Directors Hire/manage team members Partnership Development Build relationships with partners, service providers, and community/business ecosystems Strengthen ties with government, education, and key organizations Implement outreach to the business community Promote employee ownership benefits to businesses and communities Manage marketing, web, and social media efforts Create advertising and educational materials Develop and manage web and social media plans Participate in conferences and exhibitions Qualifications
Experience 4+ years business or nonprofit management Leadership in starting/building organizations Fundraising, budgeting, and financial management experience Managing grants or project budgets, including planning, tracking deliverables, and reporting outcomes Knowledge of employee ownership models (ESOPs, cooperatives, EOTs) Strong written communication skills, leadership, and strategic thinking Excellent public speaking skills, adaptable to both technical and non-technical audiences Commitment to social and economic equity 4-Year degree and/or equivalent experience Put NCEOC Executive Director Application in the subject line.
