Job Description

The Heavy Equipment Operator reports to the Senior Heavy Equipment Operator and is responsible for operating machinery to move materials safely and efficiently. Key duties include following all safety procedures, performing inspections, and assisting in various yard operations as needed.


Main Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to safety and work procedures at all times.
  • Operate heavy machinery to load and unload materials safely and efficiently.
  • Use a 988k Caterpillar to unload trucks and stage materials on the infeed deck or storage areas.
  • Operate Liebherr & Volvo High Lifts to sort and move materials to designated inventory locations.
  • Assist with production as needed, including loading the infeed line.
  • Clean industrial equipment and maintain a tidy work environment.
  • Conduct daily inspections of machinery, including lift trucks, and complete necessary documentation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Job Qualifications:

  • Reliable and able to follow directions.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including extended shifts.
  • Basic skills required; must be able to learn equipment operation and general yard duties.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and in noisy, high-volume environments.
  • Capable of performing tasks that require walking, standing, climbing stairs, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Familiarity with Human Machine Interface (HMI) and control panels for operating equipment safely.


Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Occasionally required to sit, push/pull, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Frequently lift/move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and variable weather conditions, including hot, cold, wet, or humid environments.
